Tides of change: TongFu shifts its focus from pros to amateurs

The ongoing Chinese shuffle has more or less affected a lot of teams, specifically, TongFu who have been at the bitter end of it. Today, the Chinese organization reveals their plans for Dota 2 on Weibo, surprisingly enough, dropping a hint at not signing any star-studded roster.

TongFu, by far, has been hit the most as an organization by the Chinese shuffle. They have recently lost Chen 'Zhou' Yao due to his retirement alongside Pan 'Mu' Zhang and Jian 'ZSMJ' Gong; the two players heavily rumoured to be a part of the upcoming Dream Team. Down to two players, the management posted on Weibo about their intentions to focus on the amateur scene in Dota 2.

This announcement may likely mean that the remaining two players, Kai 'Kabu' Zhao and Hui 'Sansheng' Wang, are now free agents in the market. The post also mentions that TongFu will not abandon Dota 2 and try to build a team around fresh blood brooding within the Chinese scene.

The translated statement can be read below:

On the 10th of this February, everyone was immersed in the joy of Spring Festival. It was the period of time when people enjoyed themselves. Yet, at the same time, player Zhou who belongs to Tongfu E-sports club announced his retirement as a Dota 2 player by publishing a message on his personal micro blog. At this moment, we appreciate his efforts and contribution addressed to Tongfu in his half-year time span, and we wish him all the best in the new area he is working on.

It has been two years and half since Tongfu E-Sports club was established. Through ordeals and growth, it has been developing from a new and anonymous club to an international well-known prestigious one. Especially in the year of 2013, we acquired significant harvest; we did not only win the Dota 2 Super League, but we also obtained the best performance at The International 3 among the Chinese teams.

With the rapid development of E-Sport, buds of new clubs sprout frequently; old players retire one after another. However, the speed of growth among new professional players is slow, they cannot hold the flagpole of Chinese Dota yet, as a result, there is a severe gap inside domestic professional game circle. Based on the status quo of domestic E-sport developing, our club has decided to maneuver for further prospects.

1. In the year of 2014, Tongfu Dota will be in the phase of reconstruction.
2. Tongfu E-Sports will organize other teams apart from Dota team.
3. Tongfu E-Sports club will concentrate more on nurturing rookies; the primary aim will shift towards team of youth.
4. “Tongfu porridge” will initiate collaboration towards many game clubs as a sponsor, propelling E-Sports developing together. In the meantime, Tongfu porridge will fund auspicious teams and players in order to let them devote themselves wholeheartedly in training and developing.

All in all, we appreciate the support from all sponsors and media, and we also appreciate the concern of fans. Tongfu will continue making efforts, for making greater contribution to Chinese E-Sports developing.
