ChuaN to possibly return as solo mid

Former Invictus Gaming ChuaN has been reported to rejoin the team. However, the latest rumour is that he will actually be taking the solo mid role with Ferrari as hard carry. It would not be the first time it happened in competitive Dota.

Prior sources have informed us that ChuaN will in fact be making his return to Invictus Gaming, thus also neglecting rumours that the team would cease to exist. If anything, it would be one player closer to the former TI2-roster. The other missing player is the recently retired Zhou who was replaced by Hao after TI3. Due to the Dream Team formation, which would reunite Mu with Hao, Invictus would be left without a carry player.

According to Sgamer, Malaysian player Wong Hock Chuan (mostly known by his last name which is also gaming handle), will be taking up the solo mid position in the reformed Invictus Gaming with Ferrari_430 as the hard carry. Both these players are not actually as locked to their positions as many would think. ChuaN was in fact well known for his exceptional mid play back during WarCraft 3 DotA, where he made the move to China in 2010 to join ToT alongside Ferrari_430, his team mate from iG. After not too long, the team disbanded and both ChuaN and Ferrari moved on to Deity. The two players switched between different core positions, depending on the hero. Ferrari would for instance play the mid lane if the team picked Invoker or Doom whereas ChuaN played other heroes such as Storm and Shadow Fiend. The later two were heroes every mid player simply had to master during those days where plenty of matches featured the Shadow Fiend vs Storm Spirit match-up in the mid lane. Ferrari was also known for his extraordinary Broodmother and Windrunner, the heroes were often banned out of respect when going up against Deity. ChuaN and Ferrari both took turns playing the hard carry position.

Of course, all this was four years ago. It was obviously a different game but most noticably due to the changes over the years both to the actual game (in terms of patches and new versions) as well as the competitive scene, the meta game was rather different. For instance, players were not as fixed to positions as they are today, they were often seen rotating around inbetween games. Often a player was known to excel with a certain hero rather than a certain lane and the game mechanics were not as defined and calculated as today.

ChuaN parted ways with Ferrari at the end of 2010 as he went back to Malaysia to play with Nirvana.my (alongside players like XTinCt and Mushi) but did not stay very long as he returned to China to join LGD in the roster reshuffle of 2011. LGD back then with ZSMJ as carry was one of the absolute top teams of the world and had been so for quite a while. Later the same year, Invictus Gaming entered the scene and accumulated two teams - iG.Z (previously known as CCM, featuring Ferrari) as well as iG.Y (four fifths of the LGD roster). LGD then reformed into the roster they used throughout most of their Dota 2 period (with ZSMJ instead of Sylar/xiaotuji). After maintaining both iG.Z and iG.Y the organization eventually took "the best" of both to combine the iG super team - Zhou, Faith and Ferrari from iG.Z as well as YYF and ChuaN from iG.Y, thus re-uniting ChuaN and Ferrari once again. This was also the roster Invictus Gaming entered the Dota 2 scene with, later to win The International in 2012.

To complete the present team of Invictus Gaming, RattleSnake's Luo is rumoured to join as the secondary support.

Rumoured Invictus Gaming roster
China Ferrari_430 (1)
Malaysia ChuaN (2)
China YYF (3)
China Luo (4)
China Faith (5)
