If you are one of the 32,000 users who previously liked MYM Dota's Facebook page, you should have noticed that they changed their cover photo, hinting that they will be adding a Dota 2 team soon. We reached out to Khaled Naim, CEO of Meet Your Makers and he confirmed that it is indeed happening.
Naim told us earlier today that part of the reasons they are reviving the Dota 2 squad is to redeem themselves for their past mistakes and fix their relationship with the Dota 2 community.
The past mistakes Naim mentioned is referring to the incident that happened back in 2011 when Laurent 'Ange' Blum, then the team manager of MYM Dota 2, withheld prize money from the team (Maelk, Mania-, Playmate, Misery, DeMoN). Although Blum was eventually fired because of it, MYM management was unable to keep their players who have "lost all confidence for the organization."
MYM then picked up a Singaporean team headed by Benedict 'hyhy' Lim in September 2012 but they also departed ways on a sour note six months later. MYM then tried to revive their squad with Danish and German players but it was short-lived.
"Mistakes, which have happened in the past, will be avoided by me," Naim told OnGamers.
As of now, the members of the upcoming team have not been confirmed but our sources are telling us that the team may be originating from the Eastern Europe region.
