CIS going into a $4,000 Carnage starting January 21st

Eight teams to compete for $4,000 in the CIS Carnage starting January 21st, among which are RoX.KiS, Empire, NEXT and PR. Given the nature of the teams involved, chances are high that the games will be aggressive and action-packed.

January 21st marks the start of the CIS Carnage 2014, a tournament for, you guessed it, teams based in the CIS region. Eight known teams will face off , first in double elimination groups and then in the double elimination playoff brackets. The tournament is intended to last for nine days, delivering best-of-three matches every day of those nine. The times are 18 and 21 CET, which is rather late for some of the CIS regions, but more catered to the general western European audience.

The CIS (Commonwealth of Independant States) scene has always been interesting and of great value for Dota. In the recent times it has however stagnated to some extent, with only Natus Vincere being a top team. And even they lack a full CIS roster. As of late, some teams have been rising up, such as RoX.KiS playing aggressive early-to-mid game oriented strategies. Empire are not far from RoX's level, but have yet to claim any major spotlight since winning ESWC and picking up Resolut1on. Teams like NEXT and PowerRangers have been around for a very long time and have always been able to steal games on and off from teams such as Alliance, Natus Vincere and Fnatic.

Worth to note is that the prize pool is self-funded by Ivan 'pingeee' Nikiforov. He is using ad revenue from his streams to give something back to the community in form of this tournament.
