Dreamhack Winter details released

It has been quiet on the Dreamhack front for some time, but now Dreamhack announces partnership with Swedish TV-channel TV6 and MTG TV to launch the ASUS Rog DreamLeague, starting November 4th.

Dreamhack saddle up with Swedish TV-channel TV6 (the one that covered The International 3 earlier this year) and MTG TV to deliver the Asus Rog DreamLeague where six of the world's finest Dota 2 teams will be competing for the prizepool of $50,000 USD. The league will start on November 4th and the final will be played at Dreamhack Winter during the final days of November.

Participating teams:

United States Evil Geniuses
United States Team Liquid
Sweden Alliance
Russia Virtus.Pro
Ukraine Na`Vi
Europe Fnatic

As explained in the image above, the teams will play two rounds of round robin, best of one. The four highest ranked teams will qualify for the offline double elimination playoffs at Dreamhack Winter. That is just the start of the project though, the kick-off season. Starting early next year will be the first official season of DreamLeague with a total of twelve teams as explained in the figure.

The tournament will be broadcasted through Dreamhack TV6 Studio in Stockholm, the studio which was announced earlier in this month as an ambitious project, joining the forces of Dreamhack, TV6 and The GD Studio. It turns out, it was only the beginning of what they have in mind for the Esports scene. Furthermore, the final will be aired on TV6, national TV in Sweden. Apart from The GD Studio, coverage will be provided for the Swedish fans by commentators, experts and reporters.

Statement by Jessica Grunewald, online manager at MTG TV

To broadcast a world class league like DreamLeague feels precisly like the thing to do right now for TV6. E-sports is just like any other sports and MTG have always been the best at sports, that's why we're very proud taking it to the next level in Sweden. Our new league will enable this.

Dreamhack expresses their satisfaction with the co-operation.

Statement by Robert Ohlén, CEO of Dreamhack

It feels amazing to work with TV6 and MTG when launching the ASUS Rog DreamLeague, the most ambitious project we've done since Dreamhack Open two years ago. The interest for Dota 2 and e-Sports is massive in Scandinavia as well as in the rest of the world and this is truly the right time for the league.

There is also a short teaser regarding the league. It's basically just a slide-show of partners though.
