Perfect World goes unlimited closed beta

Perfect World server is off the leash and is now publicly available to users everywhere. Perfect World is hoping that the announcement would bring in a surge of players waiting to try out the previously restricted game.

In Perfect World's press release yesterday, the Chinese distributor for Dota 2 has officially launched unlimited closed beta for the Perfect World server and the game will now be available in China without the use of a beta key.

This announcement indicate that the Chinese server is finally ready to take in a huge influx of players although a queue may be imposed if too many people tries to get onto the server at the same time, much like Steam did when Dota 2 went off beta.

The queue will allow Perfect World to continue improving the server capacity, a continuous effort since the server was activated on the 28th of April. Initially, the Perfect World server needed users to be logged on the normal Steam servers for more than 1,200 hours before they were able to get a beta key. On the 26th of June, the number of hours were reduced to 400 hours and by August 23rd, whoever downloads the Perfect World server client will automatically receive a beta key.

With the activation of the server and its availability to the general public, Perfect World is hoping that there will be a surge of players waiting to try out the previously restricted game.

"We have been working diligently to localize 'DOTA2' for Chinese players and we are now ready to launch unlimited closed beta testing in China for the game. We highly look forward to embracing a new world of players to the game and bringing them abundant excitement and fun," said Robert Xiao, CEO of Perfect World.
