RoTK: 'I was shocked, then sad, then angry'
Bai 'RoTK' Fan was recently booted from DK and he expressed his anger and frustration on Weibo a fair bit before deleting the tweets. He went on to join Vici Gaming and he seems happy to be where he is right now. Supernova sat down with the explosive captain to talk about his departure from DK, his thoughts on almost everybody getting kicked from DK, and his new team. Special thanks to NFG89 for the translation.
Let's talk a little about TI3. What do you think is the difference between DK, and Alliance and Na`Vi? Was finishing below top four a result you expected?
I actually think we could have made it to top three but unfortunately, we made some mistakes in decision making. As for the two games against Alliance, we let them have an extremely "buggy" hero (at that time) Batrider while they banned Batrider when we have the first pick.
When you heard that you were booted from DK, you said that some people on forums even knew it before you did. Can you explain what exactly happened there?
Before our holidays, we returned to the club for a meeting. Before the meeting ended, BurNIng did not express whether he would like to retire. Therefore, I asked if he is indeed retiring, if he is not, then let's play as brothers for one more year. He told me he haven't decided and I decided not to ask more. I felt that it was weird but I did not think too much of it. After that, I heard from my friends the news of me being kicked from the team. I immediately called our manager for further clarification on the matter. At first, I was shocked, then sad, then angry.
You stated that you didn't read the DK's contract too much because you believe in the team. Did your attitude towards contracts changed this time before you joined VG?
Of course. The saying goes 'even among brothers accounts must be settled'. I am the player representative, I will be asking for a few requests to be included in the contract between players and gaming organizations. An example would be a player getting compensation for being kicked, or be kept as a symbol/figurehead but should be able to participate in competition. On the flipside of the contract (the gaming organization's requirements towards players), such as no private transfers when under contract and the need to attend club activities etc.
After the reshuffle of DK, you said they were an all star team. Now that they have confirmed their roster, where do you think the strength and weakness lies within the team?
I think their strength is with MMY burying the hatchet and returning to DK. The weakness should be the 2 SEA players (Mushi and ice3). With them around they will need to work on communication within the team. Just an extra tidbit, please do not make MMY the scapegoat for the team, just be glad he is back.
What do you think of VG's gaming house, and compared to DK, how is the atmosphere within the team?
I feel that the atmosphere is great. After winning in training everyone gathers and discuss the details of the match, and after a loss we analyze replays together. On a whole it is very enjoyable. We also don't get mad but accept losses.
How would you describe or rate your VG teammates?
I think Super is a talented player, but sometimes a little lazy. He never drops the ball in key situations. He is still quite young and immature though. Fenrir and FY are old friends of each other, and have developed intuitive partnership. TUTU has the basics of playing carry, all he needs is more big match experience.
Can you let us know your goals for VG, and the difference between your short and long term goals?
Short term is to get top 3 in the ACE league. As for the long term, lets try to get to Seattle.
Anything else you wanna tell your fans?
Thank you for your support and encouragement all these times, especially to those who kept supporting me after the DK incident. Times have been tough but I will keep at it, try to work with teammates more, and finally use future results to build my legacy to prove your support was worth it.
