It's Gosu Announces Monthly Madness DotA 2 Invitational

Posted by Seth "Sazab" Tompkins 3 months ago
ItsGosu.com has confirmed that it is launching a 16 team invitational tournament sponsored by Twitch.tv with $1,000 as a starting prize pool.

It's Gosu as a group have been decently competitive with the top tier of DotA 2 teams recently, however it seems that the organization itself is ready to crank up the team's play time and overall exposure by opening their own arena of battle.

The first four teams confirmed for this meeting are Na'Vi, Dignitas, EG, and the home crew It's Gosu; a star studded starting lineup, one that will no doubt create generous amounts of early buzz for this new event.

Some details from itsgosu.com:

"It's Gosu eSports is today proud to announce our first Dota2 tournament series, “Monthly Madness,” sponsored by Twitch.tv.

Monthly Madness will be a $1,000 winner-take-all, single elimination bracket style tournament taking place in March. With this tournament, though, It's Gosu is taking a unique approach to the tried and true invitational format, allowing four teams to play their way into the competition via two open qualifiers to be hosted on consecutive weekends in February. It's our hope that this format will help bring a greater level of involvement and excitement to the amateur and semi-professional elements of the current Dota2 community, and will provide a way for teams who're looking for their chance to break into the realm of professional eSports to get involved and play their way into the spotlight.

All of the action will be brought to you by the It's Gosu casting crew, led by well known Starcraft II caster-now-turned-Dota2-caster GoSu.Ayesee."

It is always great to see a new DotA 2 event being announced as these early organizations are helping lay the framework for a legitimate and respectable e-sport. The new system of open qualifiers that It's Gosu is using to fill 4 of the 16 slots is particularly interesting. This democratizing of the tournament format will let more unknown freelance teams gain the chance to become noticed by some of competitive gaming's power players.

Full details of the tournament are available at It's Gosu's official site below.

I hope I'll see NSka squad, I know I sound like a broken record, but they are the most entertaining team to watch, they played like 3 games but every game was really epic

1000$ + winner take all, but 16 teams... doesn't sound very promising to me

yeah EG too arrogant to play in such a minor tour like this

look at yesterday TPL match last night, AL play 3 times in a row from 1 am till the morning and they dont forfeit just like EG does

LOL, I think the EG matter was clarified, they had issues with the way TPL was organised, not with every tournament, don't make this nice tournament news post a flame one.
Anyways, on topic, sounds promising, may the best win.
Good Luck with you competition It's Gosu.
