Kiev hosts 20,000$ Dota 2 Star Championship

The computers at Kiev's Cybersport Arena are to be upgraded with Steam this December, as 20,000 US-Dollar seek a new star in the next major Dota 2 event after ESWC and WCG Asia. The tournament's line up will consist of twelve directly invited teams plus four winning teams from online qualifiers that are held in DotA and Dota 2.

Set to take place from the 8th until the 11th of December, the tournament encompasses two group stages and double elimination playoffs.

Natus Vincere already announced themselves for the event, with many others to follow.

Vitaliy 'v1lat' Volochay, who also covered previous events such as ASUS and Techlabs on site, will again sit down in front of the microphone as Russian commentator. Toby 'TobiWanKenobi' Dawson will take charge of the English stream.

The striking amount of $20,000 will award the best four teams in the following distribution:
1st place - $10,000
2nd Place - $5,000
3rd place - $3,500
4th place - $1,500

Prior to the main event, three online qualifiers will be hosted from which two take place on Dota 2 and one in DotA. The four slots in the finals go to the winners of the Dota 2 events and the first and second place finisher in classic DotA. More information about the qualifiers can be found at the tournament website cyberarena.tv.
