Korea's largest DotA2 tournament KDL will be returning this week with its third season, featuring some of the strongest teams based in Korea. The competition will run from August 3rd through October, beginning with its regular "tier" system first round.
Nexon's Korean DotA League is back for its third consecutive season. It will take place from August through October, featuring the biggest clubs in Korea. Matches will be played live on Nexon Arena every Wednesday and Sunday. However, this season differs from the previous two as it will see six best-of-three matches in total each week. The winner of the previous season was MVP.Phoenix with a 3-1 victory against Pokerface.
Much like the previous seasons, it will use the "tier" system for each playweek, with four teams in the first tier and six teams in the second.
Each tier-one team will gain:
- ?2,000,000 for their first victory
- ?3,000,000 for two consecutive victories
- ?4,000,000 for three consecutive victory
- ?5,000,000 for each consecutive victory after their forth (maximum 12)
Each tier-two team will gain:
- ?1,000,000 for their first victory
- ?1,500,000 for two consecutive victories
- ?2,000,000 for three consecutive victory
- ?2,500,000 for four consecutive victories
- ?3,000,000 for five consecutive victories
The tier-three teams participating in KDL will earn "tier-points", helping the highest ranking team reach tier-two next season.

This is the third season of KDL. A total of four seasons have been announced for 2014, with the fourth season being scheduled to span from October through December.
