NaNiwa's chances to be a contender at Blizzcon's Global SC2 Finals have been threatened in an upset during the first round of WCS Europe's Premier League.
Despite being fresh off an InNoVation-slaying WCS Finals performance, NaNiwa, who is also currently the only foreigner with enough WCS points to qualify for Blizzcon, was knocked out of Premier League by Norwegian underdog Targa. The elimination was especially painful given NaNiwa's victory over Targa in the opening series of the day, which he led 2-0, only to be defeated 2-1 in a losers' round rematch. The player who put NaNiwa in the losers' round predicament to begin with is korean Terran player ForGG, who defeated NaNiwa 2-1 and bested ToD 2-0.
Targa also defeated ToD 2-1, putting the Norwegian and Korean forward to the round of 16 and leaving the two Toss players in the dust.
