New PGTour webdesign

[s]pgtour[/s]

PGTour, the leading ladder in the Starcraft community, has hit us all with a brand new web design.

With Season 6 ending on February the 10th, PGTour has redone their entire site with a brand new design. PGTour has been known for its high quality ladder since it opened and now it has a high quality web design to go along with it.

It seems that the initial changes on PGTour is basically a new layout with a much wider interior which provides more room for each page. The layout on the front page includes new flash animation for the top navigational bar and account manager, along with much more eye-friendly material such as, new border bars in a Zerg styled theme and a Starcraft picture in the lower left portion of the page that changes between Zerg, Terran and Protoss each time you visit PGTour. The layout of the information has also changed drastically but as stated below from the PGTour Webmasters, the content remains the same.

The new design is optimized for a screen resolution of 1024x768, meaning that they can fit much more on page. The new index page has a whopping 4 columns, but it shows more ladder and news information, and it now shows 15 news and 15 newportal entries. Although the new site fails terribly in its web standards compliance, it renders perfectly in the Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera browsers. The site loads in under 50 milliseconds on a high-speed connection, but dial-up users will have to deal with a whopping 800 kb of data on their first load (should load much quicker after the site is cached). The flash effects in the header are also quite demanding, and are a bit sluggish on a Pentium 3 processor.

Obesity aside, however, the new look is a prime example of how large screens and fast processors and modems are turning the Internet into a rich multimedia environment. Contrast the site with the Internet as it was 10 years ago - blue links, white backgrounds, and Times New Roman font - pretty boring!

Well, we hope you will like it. Many people liked the old one and we did too but the problem was that it was too "thinner". But as you can see, we made sure to not lower the quality so no one is disappointed.

Also, the content and the organisation/divisions of every section remain the same. Only the design has changed.

Well, welcome to the new PGTour.net and enjoy yourself!!

And now, it seems, there is only one more question to ask, "How Do You Like The New Design?", which is exactly what PGTour is asking their users in their most recent poll. Go make your voice heard, and until then we wish PGTour the best of luck with their brand new design.
