PGT: Milestones and a Contest

That's right, you heard me! Just weeks after PGTour's one-year anniversary, they have reached the amazing milestone of 2 million games played.

After a tough first year, and a death and rebirth, PGTour has emerged as a driving force behind the community. With an ever-growing memberlist of more than 171 000 users, PGTour is quickly approaching the popularity of its rival WGTour, which has over 200 000 users.

Throughout its history, PGTour has had a reputation for user-friendly features, such as automatic reporting, which have helped it to gain popularity and respect among ladder users. While there is a competion between the two Tours, it has always been a friendly one, and can only benefit the community in the long run. Already, WGTour is beta testing a major upgrade which will put the two ladders roughly on par in terms of features and software.

The dramatic revival of PGTour was an amazing community effort, and our very own Entropy had a significant role in it, securing a deal with FighterForum, a popular Korean StarCraft site which now generously sponsors PGTour's hosting fees, all based on a donation system of pure Starcraft passion since there are no vested economical interests involved.

In the newpost, Phantom[xz] posted a plethora of stats. As you can see below, the ladder is extremely active.

Also in the news at PGTour is a wallpaper contest organized by J_ghost351. At stake are 200 site points for first place, 100 for second, and 50 for third. The wallpapers must be StarCraft-related, available in 800x600 and 1024x768, and the deadline is Friday, December 16th.
