Broodwarmaps.net has been hosting a constant outflow of great maps and it is currently a safe haven for the best Melee map makers in the West. They have been planning in collaboration with GG.net to pick up a torch Blizzard left many years ago: » Map of the Month
Together we will try to bring the community a Map of the Month once again, except this time we will aspire for pro-gaming quality without sacrificing too much innovation and creativity. It is very high goal we have set ourselves, but then again, the best in the melee map making community will be there to make it happen.
We can only hope other sites take suit and help them achieve this goal, which should be a common goal for anyone who plays Starcraft and likes playing on new high quality maps. The Map of the Month will be offered to the different Tournaments and Leagues in our community. No map is ever complete without tons of blood spilled over it from serious competitors. Our plans include to soak these maps, until they are battle tempered.
This will be our common goal, call it a dream and we will give it our best try. However Broodwarmaps.net has been offering many interesting features for the melee map making community already. One of them, their best, is their Map of the Week feature. We will diligently make sure that it is promoted every week for the benefit of us all. We are only sorry we did not start this earlier.
After 19 Maps of the Weeks the host of Broodwarmaps.net,
panschk[FP], finnally managed to get one of his own maps approved as a Map of the Week. A small indication that reflects their high standards. This is his description of his map. "(2)Uphill is a 2 player map on Desert tileset, where most big battles should take place on a grey building in the middle. Terran can chose to wallin to secure his natural expansion at the same time, but will have the risk of an attack on the backdoor then. While I tried to add some flanking room, it is probably still one of the more terran friendly maps."
