Have you ever wondered how the staff of the World Cyber Games figured in the drawings? Well this coming October 19th, the administrators will proceed with the drawings to see who will be in what group and who will play one another.
October 19th is the official date given for the drawings. Ongamenet Game Studio, located in
Korea, was the chosen group to lead the drawings and to make sure that everything would be done correctly and so that no player is cheated out of getting a chance of winning their group. The WCG committee has allowed viewing of the drawings as they update them live on their website. The tension will arouse when the drawings do eventually start. As of now almost every country has finished their national WCG finals and has submitted the winners to the committee.
If the group drawings are to be fairly and correctly there must be some implied rules so that everyone is treated equal and no one gets a "free pass" to the Top 16 Single Elimination Tournament.
1. Make groups so that the top rankers from each country do not play each other.
2. The country drawing for each game is done before Group Drawing of each game to decide the order of drawing.
3. Group drawings for each game will depend on the alphabetical order starting from the country drawn. (If China is drawn, the group drawing of designated game is started from China and will end at the country that alphabetically precedes China)
4. Group drawings for each country are done in the order of the player ranking as decided at the respective national finals.
5. Redraw occurs when 2 players from the same country are in the same group.
6. No redraw will occur if 2 players from the last country to draw are in the same group.
7. The following is how the rules will go if a player is absent after the group drawings because of personal reasons:
-- 1) Absentees will receive an "LOSS BY ABSENCE" for all matches.
-- 2) Even if the total number of players in the group has a great difference compared to other groups due to the players absences, that group will still play as scheduled.
-- 3) If an opponent is absent for games that depend on points, frags, or records such as Counter-Strike: Source, Need for Speed: Underground 2, Halo2, the other player will receive a win result.
8. No objections/complaints on the group drawings will be accepted.
StarCraft will have a grand total of 8 groups. From those groups the top 2 will advance and proceed to the next stage of the grand finals. Good luck to all players will have earned their spot in the 2005 World Cyber Games!
