Dota ?? No more?? (5763 reads, 33 replies, 3 months ago)
Is it only me or anyone already realized that dota 2 is more popular than dota nowadays? European scene has completely shifted to dota 2 even tough the official game is not yet released . Only Asian scene is active, but well (partially). Really want to try out the dota 2 and i've been waiting for the official game for a long time.

Nah, in Asia (at least China for sure), DotA is still way more popular. Right now, I still see North American DotA rooms on Garena being full every night. Comparatively, it takes quite some time to get into a game in DotA 2 cause of the lacking number of players

In PH, DotA is still very alive and only some people know what Dota 2 is and it is rare for people to have beta keys in fact MPGL is still played on DotA.

dota is still very much alive. even when dota2 comes out, the pros may shift but the casual gamers will remain. dota war3 still has a longlife

there are so little people here that have a key. they just won't give out keys to every one who will join a tourney.

#2 I'd still prefer DotA to DotA 2 if DotA had a good integrated gaming platform.. Anyways, the things you can do in DotA 2 right now is pretty limited... Those who don't have keys aren't really missing out much.

Europeans are the only one who shifted to DotA 2. In Asia and other countries, it's still DotA1.

There is sometimes 20k people on at the same time in dota2 oo

It takes like 1min max to find a game most of the time. I am asking myself who actually has all of those keys T_T

#1 It takes 5 seconds to get into Dota 2 game. But this shouldn't even be discussed, its a closed beta... Wait for the full release and then we see who makes the switch and who stays with Dota.

Everyone is gonna change over to dota 2, and most of big tournaments in China already made a statement about this.

Servers in SEA takes about 10-15min before connecting to a game for dota2

Dota is very much alive here in PH

Why in the world do you join NA Dota rooms when your pings are 300+?

Online player never goes above 220K and not all of them are playing. Some are watching games, idle or just chatting.

#9 Did Valve really gave so much beta-key ? Or the player themselves have another way of getting it.

#11 Btw, many Chinese's team has already broken apart. Plus, I can't see any more Dota tournament in China recently.

#12 Very true. Indeed.

Publicly, yes, Dota is still alive. But in e-games scene and tournament, i doubt Dota is the game of choice compared to Dota 2.
