Twilight trololololol

Edit : #7 i did read two of em and i can say that they suck. It has nothing remotely close to a fantasy story except for the existence of vampires ( that too is flawed) . It is too boring and feminine, imo.

on the other hand...I didnt like the song of ice and fire nor game of thrones...

If you havent read The Hobbit, I suggest you do, it was a pleasure to read. Otherwise I haven't read that much fantasy, but I will keep close tabs on this thread myself. I need some new books :)

Fantasy? Anything Tolkien!

Start with The Hobbit, and read The Lord of the Rings afterwards. If you really like the Tolkien mythology, I suggest you read The Silmarillion as well. I can also recommend The Children of Hurin.

Well, if you want something to read for a long time go for Wheel of Time (and the last book is finished and will be released later this year! Finally! The year of the Dragon... how fitting!).

If you want something a bit different try The Name of the Wind and A Wise Man's Fear (and the third book is on it's way) by Patrick Rothfuss.

If you want something dark try any of Joe Abercrombies books, preferebly starting with the First Law trilogy.

This + A Song of Ice and Fire which is also awesome (Second season of Game of Thrones is taking so long to come out! Fack!).
Also a very good classic and many times almost forgotten: The Mists of Avalon.
Another one very good and very, very underrated is Hothouse by Brian Wilson Aldiss. A awesome strange and addicting mix between Science-Fiction and Natural Fantasy (elves-world-like)...one of the few books i read in 1 day only

Legend of the seeker is not a book! Dont mess Terry Goodkind's masterpiece with that sh*tty tv series! The Sword of Truth novels, that is what it is.

If you want some fantasy novels, read Warhammer 40k novels especially the Horus Heresy series. This novels have a rich history and is very detailed. In fact SC is based on this novels/tabletop game.

Tolkiens work are a legend. Though there are lots of tidbits that need to clarify it is part the mystery behind it.

Also, The sword of truth series and The watchtower by Stephen King.

For vampires I suggest Anne Rice. It is not mushy compared to twilight and the characters there exude intelligence unlike Meyer's stupid bella.

Joe Abercrombie books are great if you prefer more action packed books, very dark and straight to the point, not like a lot fantasy where it takes like forever for something to happen at all.
