before, its 4 protect 1, ganking, push strat, massive aoe, now its all about tanking.
str heroes becoming popular now a days, with addidtion of new strat like BC.
noticed that any strat is viable, but why use only limited heroes?

example, why use spec, magina, void as a hard carry in 4 protect 1 strat? we have mortred riki yurnero(even slark can pawn). sylabear, pugna and brood for push strat, if we have undying, KOTL?

just want to know your thoughts about why pros stick to popular heroes, if there's a lot in the hero pool? they say DK and slardar is not a good pick before SMM, but now they become hot picks in china, same to other heroes, they don't need to be buff in the next version, i want to see them in action

A+B=C
i think its more of the trend, once everyone follows this trend there will be teams that comes up with a new strat that counters the old trends.

early in the version spec/magina/weaver (sylla) were top picks, then teams discovered that you can shutdown these hard carries simply with tanky str heroes that dont require as much farm.

and this is all within 6.72

and that's the problem right now, it's like a trend but they tend to copy each others picks, few teams innovates, it's like "Oh Slardar own us, he's good and has a potential, let's try him!" not like, "let's use other heroes and make another combo",

Oh please! Slardar was kind of a regular pick some years ago... Ursa was also used (even if less) in kind of a regular way. It comes down to metagame.

kay, that was a year ago, along with zeus and the others, that's it, it all comes down to the so called metagame, people forget that there's more than 100 heroes in dota, that's my point,

#7 - It has a 3 second cooldown when you get damaged by your opposition. How can you escape from that?

Lothars can be used the first time alright, but if the opposition has dust/gem/sentry, good day to you sir.

Smeagol-
Why bother using other heroes from that 100-hero pool if Slardar and other current picks suit the playstyle today?

What do you want, use the trusted heroes or innovate then fail miserably? Just a point to ponder.

Actually all these metagame shifts were created by DT.Love and other semi-pro teams, but they always lose after the pros copy their strat because they don't have as much practice / skill.

You can always stay ahead of the metagame watching them. Of course not all their new strats are good.

It's simple. It takes time to find the perfect role for new heroes. Why is slardar popular these days? Because teams learned WHY slardar is powerful and HOW to use this hero to their advantage, and build a strategy using this hero. To master these strategies however, you need a lot of time practising -- which means less time spent exploring the potentials of the other heroes. However, once another team has discovered a good strategy, other teams realise how good that seems and jump in to perfect it. Doesn't take too much of their time, and they can master it all the same. There are probably a lot of heroes that can be played competitively right now, but teams aren't really interested in wasting so much time and effort to research the heroes when they might not even produce results.
