Which keyboard? (2073 reads, 17 replies, 5 months ago)
Hello.
I'm getting a new keyboard and I'm not sure which one I should get so I need some input and ideas.
I'm considering the starcraft marauder keyboard and the steelseries shift keyboard. Do you have any experience with any of these? Have any suggestions to which one I should get or perhaps another one?
I'm going to use the keyboard to play sc2 and different fps, but sc2 is the most important component when it comes to choosing a keyboard.

I personally favour SteelSeries or Razer over any other accessory brand because I feel they are better for game performance TBH.

But the SC Marauder does look quite nice.

The marauder is neat, kinda small in comparison to most keyboards.

I have a black widow, and I wouldn't change it for the world. I hate macro keys on the left side of the keyboard too, once I got used to these ones, I've enjoyed this.

i have this logitech shit keyboard

i thought it will be good when i bought it (i also have logitech mouse which is awesome) but it turned out to be crap. first one i had started dying after a few months (half of the keys stopped working one by one, and no, didnt spill anything). then i bought the same one again, and now backspace/space/enter get stuck all the time (plus, its too loud). apart from this one, i tried razer's keyboard (not sure which type) and it was a lot better. so id suggest that one

I would have to say flat out black widow, Steeleries 7g or Das Keyboard (ultimate if you don't want print on the keys, I almost got it but I really, really like razer. If I got sponsored, I'd pray it was from Razer.) in my opinion. Some people say the cherry MX blue keycaps aren't good for RTS, but they're just crazy fanatics. Just go for what feels nice, and the Black Widow in my opinion feels the best. I like the keys, the spacing and the shape.

Razer keyboards are the best for me. But you could look at Roccat's mice.

I've never really spent much more than 30$ on keyboards, but I'm picking up a K90 when they come out. It uses cherry reds which are good key caps for RTS games.

You can get a $2 key puller to take out the macro key caps so they are almost impossible to get in your way (besides making the board bigger). I recommend this. You can also pull out other useless keys like the left windows key.

If you want to drop 100+ on a good mechanical keyboard you're going to take care of it'll save you money in the long run because a $10 keyboard is going to die even if you never use it. But you can do whatever you want with a $10 keyboard and get a new one when you feel like it.

I would not recommend gimmick boards like shift or whatever.
