tl;dr.

else #10 #12.

also we (the public) mostly thinks LAN tournaments>>>Online, so with you manage to win using this method, you probably would suck in LAN. :P

and i dont have a clue why i am writing here.

I definitely agree with blah. I've often wondered about that, and brought it up a few times, and the replay was invariably "there is delay between the game and the stream". I think anything more than one-two minutes makes it okay in terms of hero positions, but wards are still a problem.

And, most importantly - there have also been cases in the past. Witness that LastHitMagic guy, who never wanted to go to LANs because he was maphacking - his teammates were none the wiser.

Now, I don't really believe any top players with lots of history in the game are really maphacking, but I do think it's a possibility with new players that don't have as much to lose and everything to gain.

You are totally and 100% right, I would never think of that. But easily solved with 6 minutes delay on streams

What's the point to do this?
Why if you player "A" goes to a big lan tournament?

People would noticed sooner or later!

Interesting discussion.

The point I would add is that many games wisely go to extreme lengths to guard against the smallest possibility of cheating. The idea is to make the game as fair as possible and to make it hard for small cheats to occur. It can be a strong temptation if people's attitude is 'LOL, that's funny, let's try it. Who cares if its 'wrong', this is just a game?'. I'll bet a lot of cheaters justify it to themselves along those lines.

So, why not err on the side of caution, and take measures to guard against this possibility? If it is real, that is.

my problem with your opinion is that you seem to be really pessimistic and automatically assume people are all shameless bastards that want to win no matter what. These people do exist and as Loda has said, I doubt any top tier teams would risk their name doing something like this, plus people actually have manners just because a bunch of bm pubbies you face everyday is like that doesn't make us all behave in that way. However, that aside, I've also thought about this and do agree that the streaming and real game should be seperated with like 5 minutes or simply stream after the game is done....

Relax dude, if the teams don't have problems with it then why do u? Why would they need a friend telling them through skype when they can just maphack? It's the same thing, just that maphack is better. Your skill level goes down, and you will be detected.
Stop the bullshit about bad humans and all that cuz u're just going off ur own topic

We thought about that earlier...
All of the top teams play fair bla bla bla and then Levent got caught maphacking...
Few times i saw Playmate pinging on enemy hero without any ward nearby...Mb its just experience,mb its not...
You can not claim some things if you're not sure of them...

I think it would be very hard to remove all forms of cheating from dota...

If someone really wants to cheat - he will find a way.

If you force ppl to be in the same vent -> then someone will tell them the information over skype/TS/whatever.

And if you don't stream the game at all or delay it people will use maphack instead. Sometimes u just need to have faith in humanity

"Please be all witnesses that I did my best to rationaly try and warn this community and those admins about this matter, here and now, at this date. The rest is not of my responsability anymore."

"if peoples still don't get it, I cannot help them more than this, and it's not my problem anymore."

Funny parts in this topic.. Why are you taking it so personal? :D I mean since when is this your problem or responsability?

OT: probably the 6 mins delay on streams would be the best solution... guess more time waiting for the games streams will be added on top of the time waiting for the teams to actually gather :) Soon every game will have 1 hour delay on stream at least. :)

it is kind of a stupid theory. there is nothing to achieve with having a guy in vent to bring information to a team.

the only thing he could tell is the mentioned ward positions but most are obvious anyways or already scouted. So in best case u save some sentries. More usefull would be the current gold status of enemy heros (e.g sk dagger in 200gold or smthin) but thats really all harm one could do.

there is always at least 15-30 seconds delay on a stream so think of the bright side of the dota life.

No.

I am me. And he is him. And you are you.

And I'm very glad it's not the other way around, especially the last part.

I don't think any top tier teams would cheat like that. Just for the ward position?
