Hi all.
I have a quad core q6600, 4gb ram, nvidia geforce 8500 gt and windows 7 professional.
I'm wondering about buying a xfx gts 250.
I've read that for ultra graphics u need 9000+ geforce series.
What do u think if i buy a nvidia geforce xfx gts 250.
Will i Play with Ultra graphics without lag?
thx

You don't need to have 9000+ GeForce series for ultra graphics. I've got 8800 GTS 512 and i can run sc2 with ultra easily.

Ok here goes my humble opinion.

If u wanna play only SC2, ur 8500 is enough, u can run it at mid-high settings, but if u wanna play other games, or SC2 on highest settings, run of that GTS 250. U can buy a 9800gtx+ instead, that is exactly the same graphics-card than the GTS 250, but with a different name and better because 1 aspect: my friend told me that kind of video-card, that have GTS on name, uses memory from ur pc instead the own memory, but I dont know if that is true. So 9800gtx + >>> GTS 250. But if you have a lot of money, buy a GTX 260 and be happy :)

Dont forget to check ur power suply, ur 8500gt dont uses much power, so if u upgrade ur pc with a new graphics card, make sure u have power enough or u can damge the other hardware. . A Seventeam or Corsair with 650w is enough. :)
Sorry for my fuc**** bad english btw. Peace!

I'm saying it because i have the beta(vs AI).
With my configuration i can't play high because when i move the mouse it lags, and in medium configuration It still lag.
Maybe It's because i have a 22'' screen ( LG W2252TQ) Do i need more graphic card, because me screen is 22?

I've seen the ATI RADEON HD 5750 ( 20 € more expensive than the GTS 250), but the 250 has 512 mb and the 5750 has 1Gb.

well if u use the resolution for 22" dont know exaxt it migth be some lag issues but personally i have a 8800gt with 256mb and i play with ultra and could even play with texture quality on max settings too. but it lagged when playing 2v2 and u need 1gb videoram for that. but 1v1 works fine with everything on max. using 1280x1024 resolution.

Playing on ultra with 9800 GTX+ without any lag at all, I guess its about 40+ fps. Never experienced any lag with this card. I recommend you to buy it.

I think the XFX HD RADEON 5750 is better.
What do u prefer xfx GTS 250 (512mb) or xfx hd radeon 5750 (1GB)?

GTS 250 = 9800gtx+

Tip: Buy an ATI 4890/4870 or a GTX 260. All are amazing and much better than both ATI 5750 and GTS 250. Worth paying a bit more for those video-cards.

But between GTS 250 or ATI 5750, go ATI 5750, no doubts.

Well, with any of them u will play SC2 on highest settings. I have a poor 9600GT and I can run SC2 with the highest settings, without any lag.

you going to crap from crapper, lmfao

get a 260 and you'll be happy, doubt that a 250 will run the game decently even on high

the problem is not the graphics but the resolutions and that ATi c ard is wicked
