Razor users never go Phase Boots (9306 reads, 33 replies, 2 years ago)
Why ?

In nearly 90% of competitive games, I always see majority of users going treads(usually strength) and always seem to loose the drift in mid game and end up loosing the game somehow

My question is why won't people start using Phase Boots more often on this hero? I would gladly take +24 damage, 82ms, and walk through creeps ability over 60ms, some attack speed and a mere 10 on attributed points.

Phase + Manta is like the ultimate chaser. Along side with unstable current, it absolutely cleans up anything you left behind.

Truly under-appreciated item for Razor

Phase boot + Manta = less hp

getting nuked by 3 or 4 spells + some physical damage = die

Happy chasing!

Yeah I know. I usually go Phase myself because it gives damage since most of the time I would go Hood and/or Vanguard. The phase ability is just an added bonus.

agree with #2,razors not the most tankiest hero IMO,a +10 str can go a long way, surviving is more impt than chasing and getting urself killed in the process.

I find an early vit booster is enough. And Phase can be used both offensively and defensively.

But more HP means more tank and that's what most competitive players go for.

I'll go phase boots after vanguard but if i can't farm at all treads would be better. Hood is situational.

Because PB needs some buff in order to be used more. If you ask me PT>PB..but if you talk like this PT<Old PB maybe i'll go for it.

Because Razor is considered and is used as a Tank/Hitter and not a chaser. You can clearly see this on his current item build. Vanguard, Defiance and Radiance would be its core items. Skadi is also considered a good buy for him. So people tend to or would favor to go with more attack speed and +10 stats rather than move speed and a few damage points.

Old Phase Boots is good, now it's suck. Even intel heroes like Zeus and Maiden go tread now, you know something wrong. In high level games, survival is much more important.

lol @ the person mentioning Point Booster.

Anyways..... I am a strong advocate of strength treads, hell.... It's one of my fav items in the game and it will definitely save a life or 2[when in dire need]

but i strongly think that Phase Boots was made for Razor & will really decimate the enemy if you learn to use it properly.

i agree that in competitive games, survivability is a must, but so is escape mechanism and movement.

Razor is an offensive hero. Maybe have some decency to give him the balanced speed + damage that he really needs instead of going treads and playing it defensively?

Look at all the replays posted on GG.Net. Have you seen any game where the strength tread Razor user wins? Counting out the Nirvana vs SGC game out of course

edit: i would also like to add... since your inventory will be something like Poor Man Shield, Magic Stick, Vanguard/Hood and finally Manta... why not Phase?Do you really need that extra 180 or so HP? add a bracer if you're paranoid. Strength treads will most definitely help, but once that Potm arrow hits you, you're finished. Phase might get you the fuck out of that tight spot until back-up arrives.

Have you seen many Carries use phase boot?
NO!
Carries get Threads for extra stats+ attck spd.
BoT for Map control.
Phase isn't the ideal boots for carries.
Best Heroe's to use it are Gankers'

Phase Boots, Treads, Boots of Travels... they're all preference. Just go with whatever works well for you. Boots choice is a very debatable topic to be honest.

For Treads, it is a more popular option because:
-it can provide some HP bonuses for survivability
-it is useful for DPS
-if you get it early it can help with lane control
-cheap boot upgrade compared to BoT

While Phase is more often used when:
-the hero needs some more chasing power
-usually doesn't DPS nor need some extra HP

for me, pt gives u +10 str which mean 180hp CMIIW which mean u can have extra 4 hits from enemy hero at early game.. which is quite useful.

and in ganking situation, razor need extra mana, and with PT u can just switch into int mode

I think there are two main reasons PT are preferred over phase for Razor.

1. With Phase you get damage, but with PT you get some damage from the stat boost but also +25 AS, which is huge on this hero.

2. On the pro level, much more often than chasing is Razor trying to stay on lane and tanking ganks until he gets farmed up. Thus the added HP from the earliest boot-stage item is a must. The offensive boost from phase is wasted, usually.

razor dont need the +24 dmg, since he gains most dmg from the link thingy, and the attackspeed gives him more dps than the actual dmg. and razor is fast enough as it is. Together with the rest of the stuns and slows on ur team u wont need much more.

i always go phase boots on razor and other hero-es like medusa, sniper etc. People understimate the potential of phase boots . When early game phase with opponent hero-es only have boots on their ganker , if u have a freaking phase boots , i swear to god, other than get stun-stacked , thres no way u can get caught just by orb-walking or normal slow nukes . and normally u can get a decent 7 mins phase boots , u can last hit like a omfg-uber-pro for the next 15 mins farm phase b4 entering mid-game-gank-phase
