Cloud9 makes its own internal roster shuffle ahead of the LCS 2021 Summer Split

The seasoned North American team makes a huge call.

It looks like Cloud9 is reshuffling its roster ahead of the LCS 2021 Summer Split, swapping out Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen for their Cloud9 Academy teammate, Calvin “K1ng” Truong. This comes just days after C9's exit in the rumble stage of MSI 2021. While Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen did have some good games, it wasn't enough to take C9 to the playoffs.

The reshuffle will be good for Calvin “K1ng” Truong to show what he's made off after being with the North American organisation for over a year and a half. However, this would mean that Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen will be plying his trade with the Cloud9 Academy squad. The changes don't stop there though; Cloud9 are also making a change in their staff with Alfonso "mithy" Alguirre Rodriguez taking up the head coach role full-time from Kim "Reignover" Yeu-jin.

Cloud9 has also released a tweeted video onto its official account featuring its CEO, Jack Etienne explain both the roster and coaching staff. While he didn't go into much detail about the roster swap, he did shed more light on the coaching matter.

Heading into MSI 2021, Reignover had approached Etienne stating that the head coaching position was taking a toll on his mental health. Deciding to take a step back, Reignover chose to assume the deputy coach position remotely with mithy taking on the role as head coach. This also coincidentally worked out all-around with Reignover unable to travel with the squad to MSI due to passport issues. Both Reignover and mithy also made an appearance in the video to explain a little more in detail about what happened and what will happen moving forward.

As the clock winds down, we can now look forward to the nine-week marathon that is the LCS 2021 Summer Split. With only three slots to head to Worlds 2021, Cloud9 will have to address whatever issues that had set them back during MSI 2021. While it was a roller coaster ride for the NA squad, they are one of the frontrunners looking to secure a spot to Worlds 2021.

Only time will tell so be sure to stay tuned as we will be updating more on the LCS region alongside many others.
