CS:GO News Week in Review: August 31st

natu released from NiP

The Ninjas in Pyjamas announced in a statement this week that they will be parting ways with their team coach, Joona "natu" Leppänen, due to lack of time as a result of his numerous casting and analysis jobs. NiP issued the following on the matter:

One change relating to the CS:GO team has already occurred and that is that we have parted ways with Joona “natu” Leppänen as coach. No shadow falls on Joona because of this and he has not disappointed us in any way. Joona has a lot of casting jobs around the world that we will enjoy watching in the future and we value his deep knowledge and skills in the game we all love, CS:GO.

LEGIJA and f0rest stand in for Kinguin

Kinguin made a surpising choice for stand-ins this week as two of their regular lineup, Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom and Håvard "rain" Nygaard, were unable to attend their matches on the 27th. To take their place, the organisation brought in Nikola "LEGIJA" Nini? and Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg, the latter of which has been in the center of rumors of a possible NiP roster change.

Lunatik closes down CS team

North American esports organisation LunatiK has announced that they will be closing their Counter-Strike team permanently after disagreements between the roster and management. LunatiK's CEO Collin "MiracleWhip" McKenzie had the following to say about the shutdown:

It is unfortunate that we couldn't provide them with what they deserve. It been a tough process on both sides of this and I can't thank them enough for giving me the time to try. I hold nothing against these guys and will truly miss them being with LunatiK. I wish them nothing but the best of luck and we will continue to route for them in the future!

Niko to play for mouz full time

Mousesports have moved their former alternative Nikola “niko” Kovac into their main lineup after stellar performances from the player. To make room in mousesport's already full roster, the organisation will be swapping out Timo “Spiidi” Richter, who will take over Kovac's role as substitute player for the team.

FACEIT EU qualifiers to start tomorrow

The closed European qualifer for the FACEIT Season 3 are set to begin tomorrow, with a total of ten teams playing in the event. AlienTech, Reason Gaming, Vega Squadron, and PiTER are the five teams coming from the online qualifiers who will be joined by Mousesports, HellRaisers, E-Frag, Team Kinguin, Natus Vincere and FlipSid3.
