Have you placed your bets yet?

Place GosuBets, win Luckboxes!

For the next few days, The International 2014 qualifiers loom upon us and rightfully we all have the oppurtunity to show our tremendous support to our favourite teams.

The stakes are high as The International 2014 qualifiers are under progress for the next few days. Alongside the qualifiers, we have numerous other competitions that showcase some of the best Dota 2 actions; amateurs and professional alike. With over 200 matches being played in the qualifiers alone, it is a great oppurtunity to place gosubets and in return become one of the winners for our Lockless Luckbox competition.

Combined with other matches, the number of games only keep on increasing and that provides a greater chance for our gosubetters to make their way into the top 3 winners list. The stakes are high, so are the rewards and one should fully capitalize on the perfect oppurtunity presented to them.

Top 3 gosubet winners will be rewarded with Lockless Luckboxes in the following manner:

  1. 8 Lockless Luckboxes
  2. 4 Lockless Luckboxes
  3. 2 Lockless Luckboxes

  •  What is a "Lockless Luckbox"?

The Lockless Luckbox is an item introduced to Dota 2 in July 2013, just prior to The International 3. It was distributed via Steam codes to people who bought merchandise from the on-location shop (called Secret Shop) in Seattle during the event. Entering the code in Steam will provide with a Luckbox inside the Dota 2 inventory. Despite being a chest, it requires no further key to open (hence the word lockless) and can be opened right away after acquiring it. It will contain one out of various items, such as Kunkka's Shadow Blade, Nyx Assassin's Dagon, Armlet for Chaos Knight as well as certain other items for Invoker, Alchemist, Dragon Knight, Crystal Maiden with others.

How do I play?

First off you need to have an account registered at GosuGamers, you also need to be logged in. To place a bet, head over to the Dota 2 GosuBet section to see all the matches available. Then click on a match for details about that specific match. Towards the top of the match page box, you can see the team names and inbetween the GosuBet information. To place a bet, select which team you will be betting on and enter how many branches you would like to bet, then press "Save bet". You can also press the "All in" button which will place every branch you currently have available, on the team you have selected. A bet can always be placed or removed up until five minutes before the match is scheduled to start.

In the example above, 100 branches are entered to be placed and the team selected in this match-up is LGD. By pressing "Save Bet", the bet will be confirmed. The percentages will affect how much branches there are to be won, they are directly affected by how many branches in total are placed on each team of the match.

Placing 100 branches on LGD with those percentages will net a total of 404 if they win (those include the 100 invested). The bet can be removed by pressing the red X-button.

By visiting the GosuBet page or any match page, you can always see the current top ten betters in the right column. Be aware that the top can shift massively after each result, depending on what those were betting. In the bet panel shown in the images above, you can also find a button called "Betting results" when browsing a completed match. Clicking that button will show many branches were placed for each of the betters and how much they won, if they did win.

  • What do I do if run out of branches?

If you run out of branches, you can always reset back to 50. To do that, first make sure you are browsing the Dota 2 section (or a page belonging to it), then you click your username in the top right corner. This will trigger the user menu, from which you can find the option "My GosuBets". Here you will find an option to reset your branch count to 50 and you are good to go again. You may also find this option in the general bet information box located below the highscore in each match page, or in the GosuBet overview page.

Even if you would lose all your branches, you can still regain them quite quickly with some skillfully placed bets as well as luck on your side so there is no reason to give up after a streak of unfortunate bets.
