TI4 prizepool now exceeds $5 million, 1v1 matchmaking coming to the game

The community-boosted prizepool of The International 4 has now exceeded $5,000,000, showing a contribution of more than 3.4 million dollars in less than six days. A 1v1 mid-only matchmaking game mode is the reward for reaching this mark.

The International 4 has now exceeded $5,000,000 in prize pool, and has been continuing to break its own record of having the highest prize pool in a single event. This milestone was reached not even a week after the TI4 Compendium was released.

With that, the eleventh stretch goal has been reached. A lot of people have been excited about this, as the reward is a new game mode - a 1v1, mid-only matchmaking option for everyone (even those without a Compendium).

With goals 12 and 13 looking impossible just six days ago, especially when you consider that the prize didn't even reach three million last year, it is now looking very well within sight. It can be remembered that new goals were added last year as the community closed in on the then biggest stretch goal.

No new stretch goal reward has been delivered, yet the Dota 2 blog has stated in their Rewards news that they are already putting the 'finishing touches' in the Special Edition HUD and in the immortal items.

The Chinese fans are considered as one of the reasons why the prize pool had a big increase this year. It can be remembered that the Dota 2 store was not able to their country last year. Perfect World, China's Dota 2 publisher, has also released a The International 4 trailer to help hype the event.

The next stretch goal is set when the prize pool reaches $5,500,000, and the reward if that is reached are new environmental effects in the Dota 2 map.
