SKT's Rain emerged as the champion of GomTV's Hot6ix cup. The Protoss powered through Woongjin's Soulkey 4-2 and snatched a $19,000 cheque.

After beating Symbol 3-0 in the quarter finals and Dear 3-1 in the semi finals, on Friday Rain became the first grand finalist of the Hot6ix cup. Having a tougher year compared to 2012, this was Rain's second chance for bringing home a championship and the SKT Protoss would not let the opportunity go to waste.

Soulkey emerged as Rain's opponent for the final match. The Woongjin ace scored a tough 3-2 comeback against Bomber in the quarter finals after being down by a pair and had a strong showing against Maru in the semi finals, beating him 3-1. Making the top two of Hot6ix cup became Soulkey's fourth grand final this year and his second in December after he won WCG 2013.

Rain took a commanding lead in the series and after Yeonsu and Star Station the Protoss was up by a pair. The Zerg recovered on Frost and Whirlwind and the score was back to a tie with Bel'Shir Vestige as the fifth map. Winning it put Rain one game away from taking the championship and a final set on Polar Night decided the tournament in his favor: a 4-2 score that gave him $19,000 and the third gold medal in his career after the 2012 OSL. Rain is also the first Protoss to win GomTV's end-of-the-year tournaments and joins a club of MMA (2011 Blizzard Cup champion) and Life (2012 Blizzard Cup champion).
