EMS One: Empire and Mouz off to a good start

It's a new week and that means a new group in the EMS One is underway. We get to see mouz, Empire, Power Rangers and Team Property step to the fore.

After Flip.Sid3 almost managed to create an upset against the clear favorites of the group, Alliance, and Menace getting the better of aAa, we have yet to see Group B come to its conclusion. This, however, doesn't stop the tournament from commencing as planned, as the match mousesports against Team Property kicks off the third and final group in the European section of the EMS One. Mouz, with their new, all-Danish roster, will certainly not have the easiest of times against the Russian-Ukranian conglomerate of Team Empire or the up-and-comers from Power Rangers.

Mousesports vs Team Property: Something is plotted in the state of Denmark

With the creation of the new Mousesports, syndereN has made the switch from the support role to the mid-lane. But the star of the opening minutes of the first match certainly was Ace, getting a triple kill on the top-lane after only 3 minutes. Their clearly blue-printed, hyper-aggressive play-style, combined with Ryze's clever rotations and dominance over all three lanes allowed Weaver to gather four times the farm of the opposing carries as well the "gg" in only quarter of an hour.

Game 2 saw a rather unusual Medusa pick for mouz, and while all seemed to bode well for the Danish team in the beginning, the aggression from the first game didn't translate as well into the second half as they would have hoped. Team Property faring better in the lanes as well as Ace's Clockwerk giving away an unfortunate amount of kills briefly put the game on edge. A 14-3 Visage on Cr1t, in combination with the free-farm Medusa got, however, transformed them into an unstoppable pushing machine that allowed the team to break base at around 32 minutes, with the ensuing team-fight as well as a decisive Roshan stand-off spelling doom for the Swedes from Team Property shortly thereafter.

Empire vs Power Rangers: All Quiet on the Eastern Front

The first game of EMS One played on the new came alongside another surprising evolution: Lich was first-picked by Power Rangers, thought to be a lot more viable with the recent changes to the XP system. The biggest advantage PR would draw from the new patch, however, would be the nerfs to Batrider, as his lower attack damage allowed Puck to bait him into a First Blood. This would put zxc and his Faerie Dragon into a position to create beautiful plays, easily making him the MVP of the game, if it wasn't for Empire and their superior team-fights to put them back in their place. A team-wipe in the bottom lane was the last straw for PR, their tap-out following at around 23 minutes.

The second game was similar to the first one, in the sense that PR had a good start. With a slight lead in kills and therefore net worth, the game seemed to go in the Belarusians' favor. But just like Game 1, the superior team-fight capabilities of Empire eventually turned the tides and by forcing PR out of the Roshan pit as well as acing their team shortly, Team Empire managed to end the game after a bit over half an hour.

Today's matches will pit the two winners, mousesports and Team Empire, as well as the losers, Team Property and Power Rangers against each other. Starting once again at 6pm CET, the first quart-finalist of Group C will be determined.
