After the Season 3 World Championships took place at the Staples Center, League of Legends gained a lot of highbrow attention. After the promotional video featuring NFL punter Chris Kluwe, one might say it was only a matter of time before eSports started to garner more interest from sports journalism.
Chris Schmidt, PR Manager at Riot Games, posted on Twitter today with a teaser photo of the set of HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, announcing that well-known Rioter Dustin 'RedBeard' Beck would be appearing on the show's 199th episode on October, 22. Real Sports, airing since 2005, is known for exposing some of the realities and problems afflicting popular sports scenes with the tagline "Nothing is off limits", so one can only speculate what Bryant Gumbel might want to know about League of Legends. The episode will air on HBO at 10pm EDT on October 22 (2am October 23 CEST).
