iTS winning G1-Spring and qualifying for DHS13

The HoN Super Sunday is still in full swing with the NA/EU Qualifiers reaching the Double Elimination stage, but in the meantime the CIS region finished their G1-Spring tournament - leading iTS to DreamHack Summer 2013.

A lot of storylines surrounded the G1-Spring playoffs with Cats Gaming on the decline, iTS and SW4G on the surge and TIIIIM being the wildcard in the race for the coveted DreamHack Summer 2013 spot. In the end the tournament did not disappoint with Cats Gaming showing some resilience and being unwilling to give up their throne of the CIS region with ease.

As expected the dominant force of the group stage in iTS marched through the Upper Bracket without really much trouble as they swept Cats into the Lower Bracket, while finishing SW4G off with 2-1. Both victims of the raging iTS squad met in the Lower Bracket Final again, with Cats Gaming showing once again why they did win the G1-Series three times in a row. The squad around Scorp1on and shylastylez showed a good form in that clutch match, eliminating the young contenders out of the race for good. All was set up for the Grand Final between the old kings and the young hopefuls.

The Grand Finals basically were a mirror image of the entire tournament with Cats Gaming fighting through all adversary, showcasing their immense skill and composure in critical situations. After falling down 0-2 in the Best-of-Five match, they showed their morale and never-give-up attitude, pushing the entire series to a fifth match. In that match they decided to go all out and try a hefty push lineup with Ophelia and Keeper of the Forest, but iTS stayed in the game, made it almost unscathed through the critical phase of a push lineup, to finally pull ahead and put Cats away in the closer.

Still there is a bit of trouble in paradise for the Russian squad, that are already aware of the fact that two of their key members are not going to be able to make the trip to Jönköping, Sweden. Replacements are already found, but the fact that the CIS representatives won't be going to the World Championships with their main roster, raises a few question marks about the outcome of the trip.
