| Maniak pls, keep up the commetary. it ads an extra dimension of enjoyment bias or not. watching any replay can get mundane just like live sports, your commetary adds a much needed burst of fun activity. more chat commentary needed! |

| Man1ak stated Merlini is "too dumb" to compete at DotA, and the other Russian players he played with on vent all agree. Classy guy... Actually, Ben Wu seemed to be a pretty bright guy in the video interview - at university now and going into med-school possibly. Also, there are a lots reps of him dominating at various times in the ganking role against VP, etc.; what does that mean for them if he is "too dumb" to play? Good criticism is one thing, but personal attacks and insults like that are bad for the game. |
| Maniaks commentary is over the top, its crude and almost ugly. Yet still i found it much fun. Dota is not formula one or the PGA its really more Aussie Football bordering on WWE. So given the confines, his commentary just crosses the line - re the "HE IS DUM" outside of this it provided the "regular dota player" with good insight on the inter-activities of the pro Dota players and heigtened my intrest. Anyone can be polite and follow rules and just call the game, Maniaks was wild and spontaneous. In all sports theres your serious commentator and sitting beside him theres the hubris who adds humourous value, Maniaks was the latter. cheers, KoRR |
| i guess it depends on your perception,if given a choice to say maniak was a commentator or a critic,he is the latter, its not just about his commentary being,just crosses the line,but the fact of the matter is: he wasnt even commenting on the game when he said that,so u cant call that a wild commentary on the game when merlini wasnt even in the game. like yosnail said zzz,good criticsm is one thing....but if he wants to personally insult i say he shud issue a formal statement lol........instead of saying it in game....and not even daring to tell it to all chat plus when the player in question wasnt even in the game....... i mean come on bro, i guess anyone would like a little wild and spontaneous commentary........but personal attacks like that,don't u think its just a little bit wrong? i don't think its humourous.... unless he actually had the balls to say it to all chat,and merlini had to be in the game in the first place then it sure would be humourous swt.... if he just said merlini can just farm imho and ntg much then it isnt so bad, but he repeatedly called him stupid and comparing here and there,like as though maybe he gotten beatten by merlini at one point and just couldnt let it go so in the end u might find it funny,i guess some would but there is a place to be talking about this......and its not in game.... and even if u do wanna talk bad about someone, calling them stupid with no justification? come on bro.......that's a wrong place to be voicing out your opinions ,especially with no justifications,other ppl might just think of it as he's taking an opportunity to hit someone that they cant stand in the back.......cowardly too imo... |

| Right, I'm not speaking about interesting or self-inflating commentaries, which might be amusing and educational during a long DotA rep. Rather, it seems highly cynical to admit something is wrong and yet to support more of such low-level personal attacks on rival players because it's pleasurable and entertaining for oneself. There is a certain code of respect even in computer games. It doesn't have to be formula one or the PGA. E.g., if a player on my team did something like that, I'd boot him and tell him to learn some basic respect for people, especially w/ famous rivals who might have beaten our team in the past. Further, if a**holes were to become very noticeable in DotA, people would choose not to play or watch, because while fun for some it's overall sad and pathetic. |

| firstly i do aknowledge that his comments are obscene. More directly the intended point is that commentary is much needed in dota, I mean in game....... i sort of see it ....... but sometimes i just miss the play and would ideally like some commmentary to direct me as to wtf just happned. Maniaks outburst though mostly flaming, was refreshing usual "commentary" consists of - -wtf -wow -zomg -zzzz -whatever sounds and feels like typical cutesy generic jibjab So upon hearing Maniaks rant, it was refreshing. Now imagine real and genuine commentary from someone whos witty and intelligent. This is a big ask though, but as dota is trying to develop into a "pro gaming sport" this live and proper commentary is much needed. Especially if it seeks to gain some serious sponsorship. seriously though.... $2000 is pitiful divided x 5 not inlcuding plane trips etc. Even when its of that low brow denominator it did pyke intrest though, better or worse. AWZ summarises it nicely. |
| P.S I chatted briefly with LOH, early last week when he was chillign with his AUS mates. I wished him well with his move to VP, he was generous in appreciating my comments. He is a cool cat. does anyone else think that in both of his games vs MYM that he was playing really reserved almost holding back? |

| yeah we would ideally like some commmentary to direct us as to wtf just happned ,but his comments at some point wasnt' even about the game... if dota is indeed developing into a pro gaming sport,i don't think the judges would allowed such commentary,live and proper commentary is needed ,not those kinds.....comments about the game itself point is i would have speak up about this, even if he was talking about a player i disliked, just that i think even he as a player shud be courteous and understanding not to voice out such issues during the game,i think that if dota is going to develop into pro gaming,like starcraft,the judges would nvr allow such commentary, i heard they even DQ a player whom accidently pauses the game so its cool that obs do commentary,but they should do them understandingly and be it more about the game itself, i heard better commentarys that are insulting but with a joking/humourous atmosphere to it befor,those are alright.... not the straight he's stupid and no justification.... no big deal.....just that i think it ain't right ya noe? insulting sumone is nvr right no matter how u put it,and even if i disliked the player i still won't.... |
