The first results of the IEST 2006 tournament are out. Yellow, Reach, Super and Legionnaire make it to the semi finals, and will leave Beijing with at least $1,500 each.

The first day of the IEST 2006 tournament has just finished. Today brought four players to the semis, as well as a very controversial game between Reach and Legionnaire. Here are the results:

Everyone expected Poland Draco to perform very well in this tournament,344978fe24f7247b8d0d782aac647c69c4328eb422945ae91b009773fb but it did not happen. The three other players ended in a three way tie, with South Korea Reach freelosing against Australia Legionnaire (picture) since it would enable him not to play against Yellow in the playoffs. At least, that's what he thought.
In fact, the three way tie did not happen, and the IEST officials counted the 'small games' to count the rankings:South Korea Reach had won four games and lost two
Australia Legionnaire and China F91 had won four games and lost three
'Unfortunately' for him, Reach kept his first position, and will face YellOw in the semis. On their side, Australia Legionnaire and China F91, who had the same win/loss record, had to play a tiebreaker. Peter the great won this match 2-0, and thus advances to the semis.
