DreamHack Winter 2005

[s]LAN[/s]

DreamHack - the world's biggest LAN - is celebrating a 10 years anniversary this winter. This means extra prizes, an estimated even greater total amount of computers, more sponsors and hopefully bigger tournaments!

DreamHack is one of these events that just keeps becoming better and better. The organization is increasing in skill with all the experience way back from '98 but we also see a great upturn in visitors; this year another hall will be opened apart from the main hall (picture).

No official prize money has been announced yet, nevertheless GosuGamers are estimating that the sum will be at least the same as this summer’s event which too was a 10th year anniversary. This winter had a total prize sum of ~€1600 (15,000 SEK) for StarCraft and ~€2600 (25,000 SEK) for WarCraft. These are after tax prize sums, meaning that the winners receive all of it.

Huge ticket demand - no release date yet

24th-27th November
Jönköping, Sweden

The tickets for the winter events are normally booked within a day. The ticket demand is normally huge; last year we were talking about 5000 sold tickets in less than 11 hours. As mentioned, however, more seats will be opened this year meaning chances for getting your hands on a ticket is probably higher, though we still wish to post shortly before the tickets are released so that none of you miss it. We will post a reminder when the ticket release is getting closer.

Seat yourself close to the shower corner

GosuGamers, organizers of the StarCraft and WarCraft tournaments are encouraging gamers of StarCraft and WarCraft to seat yourselves close to the corner where the showers are. There are three rows in particular suggested for these games; they will be announced shortly at DreamHack.se and our webpage.

Live commentated and broadcasted finals

We will be organizing as big tournaments as there is interest for, an open the possibility for a two-on-two event in each game. However, only the one-on-one official tournament will have prize money. The finals will be played next to the main stage and be broadcasted live on the big screen, live commentated.

Make sure to keep your eyes open for the tickets and post below if you're planning to attend!
