2009 Talks DotA Episode 1

The legendary captain of FTD and LGD.sGty became a caster and commentator shortly after his retirement from competitive DotA. He released a series of Chinese commentary videos that were highly regarded, not only for the level of insight provided, but also for the entertaining nature of his ramblings, and stories of the competitive scene.

Previously CtChocula released fully translated and subtitled versions of episodes 2 and 3 (Both can be found here and here, respectively). Over the past month, he and his team went back and translated episode 1, the very first commentary in 2009's now well-established series of commentaries.

In this episode, 2009 reviews the legendary SMM 2009 losers bracket semi-final match between FTD and Kingsurf, voted the most exciting match of the year by myMYM.com. This match was the turning point of the tournament for FTD, the eventual champions of SMM 2009, and in some ways marked the beginning of the Chinese era of DotA. In fact, FTD's victory at SMM 2009 was China's first major championship in DotA.

2009 takes us through the match, sharing his insights and thoughts, as well as anecdotes about the DotA scene of yesteryear. He speaks at length about current generation LGD players, his world-renowned former teammates, and touches on various topics, such as the chatter of English commentators, the upsides of yelling, and a very special European player touted as the "next Vigoss." And yes, this is also that game -- the one with ZSMJ, and the fickle favours of a certain Sacred Relic.

This is the third video translation in an ambitious translation project by GosuGamers user CtChocula and his contributors. These videos are the culmination of countless hours of their work.
