As part of an ever evolving effort by tournament organisers over at PlayCyberGames, next month's Gigabyte eSport Tournament International DotA Cup promises to feature new exciting changes to both the structure and layout of the tournament.

Organisers at PlayCyberGames have taken in feedback following March's edition of GEST and implemented interesting features that plan to take April to a whole new level of DotA action and competition.

Firstly, April's group brackets sport a more uniform distribution of countries with no group having two or more teams from the same country. This could potentially spell trouble for the remaining SEA teams who will now be fighting to prevent Philippines' four teams from advancing on to the playoffs.

Nevertheless, the most prominent addition to GEST April remains the opening of the tournament to twenty teams up from the original number of sixteen. Four teams will qualify through six regional qualifiers where the top two teams from each qualifier will then play in a bracket which will eventually decide the four qualified teams for the main finals.

The Q-Tour GEST IDC will run before every month's main GEST event which means that the tournament is now open to new teams which may vary each month.

With twenty teams, the playoffs bracket have been extended to a starting eight best of one single elimination bracket - the top two teams from each group (totalling eight teams) will enter the playoffs and play best of one matches in a single elimination bracket until the finals, which remains a best of three affair. Group stage matches are also best of one (three points for a win and none for a loss).

Last but not the least, make no mistake - tie breakers are back. The absence of tie breaker matches at GEST March's Group Stages caused the unfortunate early dismissal of arguably deserving teams such as Trust and Mineski. PlayCyberGames have decide to set aside a time period specifically for tie breaker matches to play out on the first playday.

Remember that the top three teams in April will once again walk away with a total of $2,500 in cash. Stay tuned as GosuGamers brings you all the information you will need to keep GEST April in check.
