Mineski take February GEST title to the Philippines

Posted by Ulrich "KongoTime" Hanten 3 months ago

Thai-executors StarsBoba, after the promising earlier rounds, eventually found their master in the grand final of GEST February edition. The opponent was Mineski, who whilst playing in a local offline tournament, showed no signs of fatigue and made it look too easy in a 25-minute game.

Unfortunately the grand final could not keep up with what the earlier played loser bracket final between StarBoba and Trust promised. Having been in the winner bracket all along, the Filipinos entered the series with 1-0 and seemed to have an enjoyable time despite being overly supplied with matches this weekend. Especially the Stone Giant by Jay distributed clouts like no tomorrow, which later even culminated in an ace by the 15 minute mark, when he put the last hit on all five opposing heroes within one fight.

Throughout the weekend 16 of the best Asian teams played through a group stage including tiebreakers and double elimination playoffs. You can find the full results by heading over to the coverage hub. Mineski will cash-in the biggest amount of the $2,500 prize purse, followed by a reputable second and third place by StarsBoba, respectively Trust.

1. Philippines Mineski $1,500
2. Vietnam Starsboba $700
3. Thailand Trust $300

GEST will return in one month, featuring the same teams in a new two-day tournament. The winners of the GosuBet championship will be announced within the following days.

Why StarBoba always have to be the team that play with much higher ping ? I think the admin of GEST should think about this unfair seriously.

Why dont you organize a tournament bro lol.
Host are pick in a neurtral server sometimes thai or mal server

I hope next month ! HOST of GEST better !!!
#32 okalyo 3 months ago
It does matter what the server is. The PING is the most important thing. Why not play in Viet Nam server with 100 ping for other teams. In all other server StarBoba have 150+ ping. I don't say that we must always balance the ping. It's just not fair when StarBoba always in the disadvantage side with 150+ ping ...

When SB defeated Neolution and Trust

Vietnamese fanboys kept on saying wow what a great teamwork... awesome push strat...

When it didn't work on Mineski... Viet fanboys complain about ping...

Lets be honest with ourselves.. Even if SB has the lower ping vs MI , they dont stand a chance.. They might not get raped as hard as what happened but they will still lose to MI...

SB is the only team in this tournament who kept on complaining about latency...
They want to get an advantage playing on home vietnamese server??? wow they wanna make the rules for this tournament...
Even Mineski played on 200pings vs iDeaL and invasion.RED.... while their opponent only had 10 -50pings... And yet they still won and never complained..... Cuz games are played on neutral server... That is the rules and MI abides by the rules and doesn't complain.. while this SB team just keeps on complaining -.- even delaying their game with Mith.Trust for 3 hours....

This SB team is not even as popular and as good as Mineski right now... and they're acting like they are the best damn thing in this tournament when they really are not....

It's not the organizers fault if your team's internet connection sucks... There's a reason why a team has sponsors.. Its for the sponsors to provide the team the best possible place, equipment and internet connection to play and win tournaments...If you're team is invited in a big online tournament like this it's their prerogative to prepare and get the best internet connection possible..

Even ph has very bad internet connection,... their pings are relatively high when they play against malaysian and thailand teams in this tournament... but at least the mineski organization is making an effort to find the best connection possible for their team...That's what your home team should do instead of whining and crying about latency... IF your team can't do that simple task, then why bother playing on an online tournament.. ITs their choice to join this tournament with crappy internet, they dont have the right to complain...

I dont see the reasoning behind forcing another team to play with 150+ pings just so that they will get 100ping on vietnam server...forcing another team to play against them in their home server... that is so unfair...

Mineski, Mith and Neolution followed the rules and played on neutral servers without complains...They dont deserve to be blamed for the unpreparedness of Starsboba.
