Version update: 6.73 includes new heroes and IceFrog revitalizing Axe

Let the Christmas Day gaming begin and continue! DotA developer Icefrog and his team have released a new map version going into this festive season after a long hiatus. The new map includes four new heroes: Skywrath Mage, Ember Spirit, Goblin Shredder, and Legion Commander featuring interesting abilities such as "Duel"; exactly what it sounds like!As well as the new heroes, we see the usual tweaks and fine-tunings of already exist heroes. What should be specially noted are the huge array of buffs to Axe, which should see him potentially make appearances in the DotA meta-game now. We also see various tweaks to popular heroes like Anti-Mage to hopefully make them less overpowered. Be sure to check out the full array of changes in the change log
Also of special note are the various new items and alterations to previous items. The courier now gives 150 gold on death to all enemy heroes but doesn't drop items, but takes 3 minutes to respawn. It looks like we won't be seeing a repeat of ZSMJ's PL performance at SMM where he had to re-farm his Sacred Relic after Beastmaster found the Flying Courier with his first one on it. Elsewhere, we see IceFrog add healing boots and the new "Abyssal Blade", combining Sacred Relic and Cranium Basher.
Visual changes have also been made to include a new loading screen as well as a more "Christmas-themed" map, such as a Pudge santa costume!

UPDATE 6.73b is out already. It contains a handful of bug fixes; the only significant gameplay change of note is that couriers are now invulnerable near their own fountains.

| its honestly only buffs for nearly each hero and i think 3 of 4 new heroes are bit OP but we will see how they will fit in. Didnt tested them so far ingame... |
| I have just played a game yesterday on this map,Naix made the "Abyssal Blade" and i was under stun for almost the whole time when he was hitting me.. luckily i was playing an overfarmed AM. :') |

| #7 the mage has low hp and low armor. I had my vanguard on it and still die very often. But pretty nasty spells. I had over 12 kills my first game. Lumberjack's spells are useless if you can't fully abuse them. They deal pure damage hitting trees. If dota was to be competitive, it's heroes need to be played with skills. This aint zues dota no more. I think lumberjack has great potential. Those hooks make it a jungle kingkong. |

| my favorite is the mage but he takes a lot of farm so he needs solo mid but no pushing spells for rune control but if he gets going it can get nasty though if he doesn't get fat early he feeds more than a cm panda and comander are op, rubic and phenix are still op I hoped for a big nerf on them... the new items are awesome all in all fun map :) |
| I hate the fact that the GG admins doesn't care about DOTA, look at the size of the news font!!! the changes in this map are EPIC, and they're taking it like... "yeah ok, whatever, I don't care, I'm going to play my DOTA 2 with cute graphics" you just have to look at the replay section, old replays from old tournaments I mean, COME ON AND POST SOME SHIT. |

| New heroes are more competetive than pubstompers imo, since they need a gameplan (except that little bitch panda..). So i dont think there will be any solid balancing on them for a while! Items are cool, icons sucks big time, but the Items are cool enough. Didnt really catch what the Abyssal Blade "dissables target" meant, even after getting the item lawl, didnt do shit for me ? ^^ New boots = Lich will be the bitch nr1 on lane, and also cm will be usefull as a ganker! (her ms is sooooooo low :c ) I like :) as always gj IF  #22 haha indeed, Maelks present from IceFrog |

| #7: I really think you're underrating Tranquil Boots. I can just see Vengeful Spirit, Crystal Maiden, a roaming Gondar and such absolutely loving it, giving fantastic regen as the roamers and supporters move quickly between lanes. |
