820:'Asian DotA is way above European DotA.'
Posted by Terrence "MrBlue" Wong 1 year ago
Prior to their match against ToT at IEM, EHOME's 820 and Burning took the time off to do a video interview with Chinese site 163.com which can be seen below. For those not well versed in Chinese, GosuGamers provides the translated English transcript for your viewing pleasure.Hello everyone, this is 163.com reporting live from 2010's ChinaJoy exhibition. We're happy to have with us today, 820 and Burning from EHOME.
820: Hell everybody, I am the leader for EHOME, 820.
Burning: Hello, I'm Burning.
Not long ago, EHOME won the title of ESWC10 for Dota. How does it feel to win such a big event?
820: Very happy, this is afterall the first time we won an international competition.
Burning: Very happy to have won it.
What do you think about the skill level of European and Asian DotA?
820: I think Asian DotA is way above European DotA. Asian teams put more emphasis onto good team chemistry, not to mention each player is individually very strong.
There are some comments saying that DotA isn't really taken seriously as an eSport due to the fact that the game is not very viewer-friendly. What do you think about that?
820: Definitely, if you don't play DotA, you will definitely not understand it. It's not like StarCraft where you can still understand what's happening just by watching a game.
Burning: DotA games are dragged out too long and there are sometimes not many wars to watch.
Do you think this is the reason that DotA is not considered a true eSport at events such as WCG?
820: I think it has something to do with the sponsors actually.
What are the goals for the team for the year?
820: To win as many titles as possible. We already got into the finals at IEM and then we have the national eSports open in mid August. There's more in the works, but those are the ones that are closer.
Whats a day like for you guys?
820: If there are any big tournaments coming up, we will spend a lot more time training. If there isn't, we usually just spend an hour or two training.
There are rumors that you(820) are retiring at the end of the year.
820: Yeah. I think I have reached my peak and I am ready to retire. I may retire earlier than expected.
Then what are your future plans? To be a commentator?
820: I'm thinking of finding work at a gaming company; somewhere where I feel comfortable.
Thank you two for taking the time to do this interview. All the best to EHOME.
820: Thanks to 163.com as well.

i think the last words 820 said is thanks to 163.com not 168.com they are not the same website at all the interview is from 163.com not 168.com 163.com is one of 3 top portals in china and 168.com is only a dota wesite plz fix it 820:谢谢网易游戏 in chinese
they're good cause they spend their whole lives playing the game just look at them... lol!
I cant play the video WTF ?
chinese are more focused on teamwork - thats a fact ;) best supporter retiring...
#37 nice 1
The problem is not in Dota, the problem is with attitude. Asians take everything more seriously. Also they have great sponsorship support which give them more motivation to do their best. On the other hand I believe is fairly overrated. No doubt that that own and pown, but take a look at ESWC game teg vs ehome, where ehome were nearly owned by teg. Of course ehome won that game, but after the match someone from ehome said that: playing against teg were really hard, because they never played with teg, and they didn't know that to expect from them. Euro dota is tooooo predictable. but ofc I may be wrong.
Maybe chinese dota is better, but they play the most boring dota there is. I would say euro style is more aggresive and less trutle but w/e,
#52 nice troll, dare to post your photo?
#4 made my day
#20 and all the rest guilty of doing this, why did you all have to pull in the "China is not Asia" argument? Face it. The question asked was "Alot has been said about the Asia-Europe debate. What is your opinion?" The answer from 820 was "In my opinion, Asia's play far, far exceeds Europe's. That is just my opinion". Subsequently he was asked to elaborate what exactly do Asia do better and etc etc. If there was some difference to mention about Asia-China I am sure he would have mentioned something like China is on a different level etc. You can argue about the level of dedication and our conditions to encourage gaming etc, which are valid reasons, however to pull in the China-Asia issue in this situation is not right. Anyway, hope there will be a good SMM, ya? Provided Euro dota doesn't die off and switch to SC2.
#57 not really... europe dota games generally last longer and are filled with AOE spam to turtle their base. chinese dota is far more farm intensive but there is very little turtling going on b/c it's such a weak strategy... unless of course there's a medusa, but everyone picks dusa ;) also for those saying that only china dota is good, SB has had it's moments quite a few times
#60 I'm guilty of what? Nobody has ever said "China is not Asia." That's 100%, made-up, childish nonsense. It is obviously a favorate topic of some people to say "Asians > Europeans" all the time. etc. and to connect themselves to the Chinese teams' domination by some kind of strange ethnic argument. Mine and others responses were correctly pointing out a factual inaccuracy in that statement considering the latest results.
"I think Asian DotA is way above European DotA" oh year, right thats why AEON got their fucking balls kicked @ESWC this year... think its just Chinese DotA which is way above european
Or 820 and Burning on some parts are on drug or the translator is bad boy this time and used google translator -.-
But: Hello, I'm burning. Funny sentence.
lmao i got denied cause i said headline is a bit uhhm unlucky chosen ? no1 talking about this one guy retiring soon surprise but now we have flamewars all hail the mods and #45 stop nonsense it hurts
#58 yes, I could
#63 That's also why the europeans got their asses kicked at the previous eswc by zenith and KS
Oh yeah, i dont think European < Asia Dota. But you should say too that Russia Dota > European Dota. Rank 1 = China Rank 2 = Russia Rank 3 = Europe Atleast Aeon ever beat Rank 3 ESWC which is the only one Europe team
#57 To me seeing perfect support / warding / mapawarness from chinese to completely avoid getting ganked is more fun then watching bad euro guys die from stupid misstakes 24 / 7.
give us europeans 500 million more people and we will crush china very easily xd
Very nice, although I want to remark that China is one level above the rest of the world.
Russia>Europe
hey EU fans boy... look this interview.. CHINA is a part of ASIA , DAMN HELL
u faggot u cannot cal uross an noobs, stop the asia>eu flame war retard
#74 and u ? no continent ??
hell yeah
I think GG.net should try to lower or stop Euro-Asia wars , making these kinda headlines is "troll friendly" 820 retiring seems more important than his idea about Asia > Euro and I think more suitable for a headline ... "820:'Asian DotA is way above European DotA." ... worst title for this interview btw , good interview and I like 820 as carry and support , wise leader
nothing to say ... asian dota > europe dota ... all know it
#20 StarBoba *cough* Like I said Asian Dota > World Dota But at the end of the day...
euro dota = no sponsor = people play for fun and not very serious but maybe it will change
#79 I quite agree with you. It is a very bad title. 820 just mentioned the key point of the difference between asia and euro: their individal skill are both good, but the team work art not at the same level. As Chinese Dota players always say" DOTA is a game for 5 players!" Please try to think about it. Arguement is useless.
#52 lol Nice interview, 820 imba support player nd best Spectre in the world imho EHOME > all
#68 why you talking about past moron, we talkin about present china is not asia, china is a part of asia. the rest of the asian teams besides china blew it at eswc, so dont even try to say that asian teams are better than EU teams when only 1 out of top 3 at eswc were from asia tl;dr - CHINA =/= ASIA, its part of it dumbasses
Stop Arguing Perhaps ? Its Just lame Your Not Talking about who's better it just became a religion war...
#76 whats on topic ? moron... click me .. and see OTHER... i'm from the other galaxy
#50 is correct. Asian DotA as a whole isn't all that impressive, it's CHINESE DotA that's crushing EU and NA.
Whats a day like for you guys? 820: If there are any big tournaments coming up, we will spend a lot more time training. If there isn't, we usually just spend an hour or two training. will this finally shut up the annoying fanboys claiming they are only good because they train 18 hours a day?
NO WAY!! European DotA for life!! :D
if you want to read nerd rage at its best read #83 its amazing
The interview is from 163.com, not from 168.com. Fix it please?
Don't fool yourself not just chinese dota rapes eu but all asia, eu is so weak they take 60min for beat random teans
haha this article so true....
Asian(chinese) DotA is more on farming and when they initiate a gank and clash soo flawlessly and thyre alot dedicated to the game while eu dota is hard to understand what they are thinking and hard to say they are alot dedicated to the game..... eu dota are more fun to watch than asian though...... #1 fan boy
@#52 yeah![]() euro gamer ftw eh? haha |
