820:'Asian DotA is way above European DotA.'
Posted by Terrence "MrBlue" Wong 1 year ago
Prior to their match against ToT at IEM, EHOME's 820 and Burning took the time off to do a video interview with Chinese site 163.com which can be seen below. For those not well versed in Chinese, GosuGamers provides the translated English transcript for your viewing pleasure.Hello everyone, this is 163.com reporting live from 2010's ChinaJoy exhibition. We're happy to have with us today, 820 and Burning from EHOME.
820: Hell everybody, I am the leader for EHOME, 820.
Burning: Hello, I'm Burning.
Not long ago, EHOME won the title of ESWC10 for Dota. How does it feel to win such a big event?
820: Very happy, this is afterall the first time we won an international competition.
Burning: Very happy to have won it.
What do you think about the skill level of European and Asian DotA?
820: I think Asian DotA is way above European DotA. Asian teams put more emphasis onto good team chemistry, not to mention each player is individually very strong.
There are some comments saying that DotA isn't really taken seriously as an eSport due to the fact that the game is not very viewer-friendly. What do you think about that?
820: Definitely, if you don't play DotA, you will definitely not understand it. It's not like StarCraft where you can still understand what's happening just by watching a game.
Burning: DotA games are dragged out too long and there are sometimes not many wars to watch.
Do you think this is the reason that DotA is not considered a true eSport at events such as WCG?
820: I think it has something to do with the sponsors actually.
What are the goals for the team for the year?
820: To win as many titles as possible. We already got into the finals at IEM and then we have the national eSports open in mid August. There's more in the works, but those are the ones that are closer.
Whats a day like for you guys?
820: If there are any big tournaments coming up, we will spend a lot more time training. If there isn't, we usually just spend an hour or two training.
There are rumors that you(820) are retiring at the end of the year.
820: Yeah. I think I have reached my peak and I am ready to retire. I may retire earlier than expected.
Then what are your future plans? To be a commentator?
820: I'm thinking of finding work at a gaming company; somewhere where I feel comfortable.
Thank you two for taking the time to do this interview. All the best to EHOME.
820: Thanks to 163.com as well.

Captain Obv- .. 820 !
euro dota is way above asian dota. its in bible. read other day. swear.
nice interview.
Well, it's the most evident claim in the world to say that Chinese DotA is way above the European. But they are also way above the rest of Asia. Ehome and LGD rip the other Asian teams just as hard they do the Europeans. The European teams, of course, beat Aeon, NV.my at ESWC repeatedly, which just as evidently means they are not vastly lower skilled than them.
#18 dream on
have to say chinese dota is way beter then euro sad that 820 retiring one of the best captain
Taste the rainbow.
LOL 820 sounds so much like Jay Chou
nice interview
Of course its way above, if play/practice for 12 hours a day
#25 Some obviously deeply love the Asians vs. Europeans ethnic warfare kind of thinking. At least a few newswriters, who like reactions, and the forum trollers like #18 can share that in common.
sad to hear that he will retire this year
# 9 UMRI MAIKA TI DEBAAAAAAAAAAAAA
spectre interviewed
# 27, we usually just spend an hour or two training. nice interview burning dont talk much??
they dont play 12 hour 820 say when there is a big tournament they will play 7 or 8 hour an if there is no tournament they play 1 or 2 hour something like that
I wouldn't say Asian DotA but Chinese DotA. Just look at ESWC 2010.
like this
Stuck up little bitch. I'd say go back to Chine but then he's allready there .. go figure.
Kills / Deaths: EHOME vs Nirvana.my------------19 : 5 EHOME vs TEG---------------------25 : 17 EHOME vs Tribal.fr ----------------28 : 8 EHOME vs AEON -------------------22 : 3 EHOME vs Nv.GiGa.int-------------25 : 4 EHOME vs LOST--------------------40 : 11 EHOME vs DTS---------------------41 : 11 EHOME vs DTS---------------------29 : 6 EHOME vs DTS---------------------29 : 7 EHOME vs World-------------------258 : 72
oh , yes =D
i think so too 820 my man -.-
my chinese is kinda bad (only learned it for 1 year in college). but i think he said that they play for 6-7 hours for big tourneys and 1-2 hour when there aren't any tourneys. he also said that european individual skill is pretty good, but their playstyle/teamwork isn't that smooth/refined compared to asian dota.
I think this will change in 6.68
@41 china gang>euro gang too -.-
820 didn't say EU way below or sth like that he said 1 imo EU individual play very strong, but lack of team work; 2 when there is big event, they will train 6~7 hrs a day, no event they don't play; (not 12 hrs a day, for old player like EHOME guys participating in a competitive tournament is the only attraction of dota now, it is understandble new dotaer play 12 hrs a day)
Too bad China is in Asia -.-
#42 true in eswc 3 game dts vs ehome i di not see dts gank -__- dts play more fram game then gank .... but got rape by ganking lion X
nice interview
EUROPE SUCK.
China > World
Hey EU does not suck.
I must say that 820 is a bit wrong, not Asian, but chinese dota is a way above the others...
