It has been recently announced that there will be a new Malaysian tournament, very much similar to the prestigious SMM held each year.

The MSI DotA Tournament is sponsored by MSI and, like SMM, will consist of regional qualifiers, ending off with a grand final at the Friendster i-Café in Kuala Lumpur. Each region's qualifiers will start at a different time. The first qualifier will be held on August 13 and the tournament will end on October 3.

Each region's winning team will earn themselves RM 500.00 and other goods such as mousepads, gift vouchers and a coverted spot at the grand final. The winner's of the grand final will receive RM 3,500.00 and more retail goods.

In order to register, one needs only to ask for assistance at their local regional qualifier venue. Registration is Free of Charge. Unfortunately, international teams are not allowed.

For specific venue dates and registrations visit the MSI DotA Tournament thread.

#9 Feel the same but hopefully they'll just try to lengthen the borders for generally all DotA players to compete rather than the West side.
Alienware as heard would make big qualifiers in future. MSi is the second step like SMM to making DotA wider in big events for Malaysia. Great steps. So there's bound to be new teams being a cyber cafe's champion to the top12 playoffs at Grand Finals. All the best for teams participated.

Out|awZ won 2nd place at SMM Sabah while GgM|x got 2nd place as well at SMM KL and both qualifiers had shown great result from two Sarawak powerhouses. I hope there will be a wider MSi tournament in future.

I have competed locally at East M'sia myself won few tournaments before I managed team Out|awZ under Mad.Net sponsor and I can say the scene here is pretty competitive despite the lack of tournament(at least 6 to 8 tournaments compared to West having more than 15 tournaments organized per year). Old teams I played in was P2P.Gaming & SDT but we require more exposure to show our strengths and dedications to the current popular game title.

Hope MSi can consider making bigger covering East Malaysia qualifiers.
