Reliable vs Unreliable Gold

Just a few days ago, IceFrog reveals that there will be new heroes coming in the upcoming 6.68 version. But that ain't all the trick up our favorite frog's sleeve as a new gold mechanic will be added to encourage more ganking strategies.

In IceFrog's latest blog post, he reveals a new feature called Reliable vs Unreliable Gold. There will be two kinds of gold in the new version, the reliable gold comes from hero kills while unreliable gold comes from other creep kills.

With the two different gold in place, Hero deaths will only incur a loss of gold from the unreliable gold pool, allowing ganking heroes to stack up on gold that they can't lose. Buying items, will first use up gold from the unreliable gold pool and the remainder will be deducted from the reliable gold pool.

IceFrog states however, that this is an experimental idea and it will be tweaked or modified based on feedback of the new mechanic.

#150 Buying ITEMS, will FIRST use up gold from the UNRELIABLE gold pool and the REMAINDER will be deducted from the RELIABLE gold pool.

it means you have to get some RELIABLE gold to buy good items , then how you get your items by only farming ?!
and about buying wards , if supports leave the whole farm for carries they will have no unreliable gold to buy wards / dust .. it means ward buyers should farm a little , we may see no more full supporter heroes ! ( just my guess , I still don't know how the changes will be )

noone mentions that smart gold use will be needed to win a game...u will be able to keep buyback money from reliable gold if u only spent your unreliable gold for items , and many many more..epic.

My opinion about the matter:
It will just boost the ganking hero's or few months, but it will just go again as the style is now. Basicly nothing changed. Only if support hero's kill they have garantee gold or chickenupgr. and wards.
For the rest, in the current state of gaming often the carry still gets rewarded with a kill, because he's higher leveled and also had nukes in some way.

Bottomline: Game will remain same, but will get a little shorter which is good. Will be more intensity on start of the game.

Overall: Great new addition, solely because now support players and gangk players will enjoy it more. Most fights the support players die, but now they pile up the cash.
Also the carry's won't be able to hide themselves behind the towers, as now your gold won't be lost as support/gangker.

Thumbs up. Only request would be to make a fast stable version of this. Or we'll adapt to the newversion, but official will stay the old.

IMHO I don't think the Metagame will change much, which is good. It gives you more options though(what DotA is all about). Your carries can either decide not to spend the "reliable gold" and let it stack up, leaving him with less big Items than the enemy carry who decided to spent that "reliable gold". But that gives you a sort of new "return-to-#-gold" deadline. Now its not 0 for you, but more. Promotes buy-back though*. Farming will be the same for carries, they simply need it and will continue to farm. Which is also fine(Can't just have 5 intels running around everygame).

The real positive for me about this "great idea", is that your endless-dying support/gankers will have some gold after fights (where they killed or helped kill) and not have 0 gold freezing their item built. Maybe we'll see more wards**, maybe we'll see more Hex/Euls/Ghost/Blademails/Aghanims/Dagons on our supports and not just treads, wand and a bracer. Cause they can let their "reliable gold" stack up and buy something useful and buy wards ward/scrolls with their "unreliable gold". This will be really interesting!


*find new way for buy-back system(Don't think it should be removed)
**find new way to warding (mb like gold bounty for killing wards, dunno)

#160 IF the extra 200 gold is going in your reliable gold, but I don't think that will happen.

Lets say the FB falls at the third minute, and a supportplayer had the lasthit. He also haves 1 creep kill. Thats 3×60g + 40g = 220g unreliable gold. If he dies now, he will just lose that unreliable gold, so the supportplayer will have to think more on when to buy items. Which adds another dimension to the game. "The economic support/ganker."

This will kill blindfarmers that rises from the ashes with quelling blade. But there is "a lot" ganking and tree lanes in dota already. If so, this looks will bring back 5 int teams..

overall idea: please don't. just pump assists.

What the hell is wrong with the current version? That's a retarded idea, the current version are perfectly fine the game requiers both farming and ganking to be succesfull and winning, why change that?

Do you guys understand how little impact this will have on the metagame?
You still lose the same amount of gold if youre a rice-farmer, since you wont have any hero kills, and if youre a support hero youre never gonna have more than 500 gold in your pocket anyway, unless youre completely stomping the opposing team, in which case it doesnt matter because youre not gonna die any time soon.

This encourages the use of gank-oriented heros, but chinese dota players can use gankers (and every other hero) more effectively than European dota players can, so it wont make a difference to the china-vs-europe metagame, china will still be ahead.

It will make European dota more fun to watch though hopefully theyll start using more gankers again, which is nice, ricefarm dota is shit boring.

I like the idea because i love ganking with lina in pubs and when i tower dive and die, I wont lose any gold =) Hooray for more pubstomp!

I think ESWC proved how superior Azn supporters are. They definitely stole the show.
Europe is not going to rape Asia because of this.

lol, this people dont even got it, go watch ESWC games, and see the "gank style" of eu teams, whit the 3 core strat....


there is no more EU/Asian style differences, whenever a good tactic is implemented and it's viable, everyone is willing to play it, it's that simple...

This change isnt made because Icefrog wants eu to beat asia, wtf are you smoking? Did you really believe that? Its made cus this version with 3 heroes constantly farming the whole map is fucking boring and dull.

This will make semicarries even more important in the game.Heroes like Storm SF and Mirana who have paper hp but are great gankers will become even more dominant.
Supports getting big better items more often should happen as well.
Some support/ganker heroes will see their value increased as well(pudge or enchantress for example) as they often die after getting the kill.
Overall, it looks like a positive change, but should change the game quite a bit. Not game breaking, but makes one wonder how long we will have to wait till the next stable version : 6.67c will be here for some more months it seems.

So if a carry gets all the kills he has gold he can't lose sounds awesome =/! This won't help imo will make supports/gankers a bit stronger but in the end won't force ganking. Seen asians play? Super safe? They will still farm in peace. Need to make it so you lose more gold. Not be safe with the gold you get from ganking. (If you even get the last hit. .) Maybe I'm confused on how it works but to my understanding yeah won't change nothing.
