After EHome's notorious performance at ESWC, EHome's manager 71 finally gives his views on the tournament. His interview, which can be found at replays.net, has been translated here for you (with bonedriven's help).
Hello,71. Congratulations to China for their first Championship at ESWC. What would you like to say at the moment?
-"I'm a little excited. When we first made to final, we were actually a little bit nervous. Anyway, we won most of the games quite easily."
MYM played well too in the tournament. Isn't it a pity that you didn't meet each other in the game?
-"I don't think it matters any more. We beat DTS and DTS beat MYM. After all, they didn't make it to the final. There's an interesting story I'd like to share though. When DTS started their game against MYM, 820 and I were standing behind their backs to enjoy the game. Then in the last pick round Maelk asked me which hero to pick. We said: "Go with Lion and Medusa."
If you were to use one word to describe the journey to France, what would it be?
-"I'd need to use a sentence. "Fight with honors for China!"
When will EHOME go back to China? I guess many fans are waiting for your triumph return.
-"The flight time is 8:50pm on 5th July (local time), so we'll arrive at Beijing at night time there. We'll be living again on 7th, as you will see us online then. :) "
In the winner bracket, second round, why did you choose to pick a gank strategy?
-"I don't think we did. When we analyzed their Banlist, what was on our minds was that we wouldn't give them a chance to push early. Other than that, we didn't care what they were gonna do. Perhaps it looked like we only ganked in the game, but it's not on purpose."

To have a coach in matches is the ultimate way to go”-"Yes,we do. But we won't put it that way. DC is of great help to us. To have a coach in matches is the ultimate way to go in the development of professional DOTA games. Like counter strike games, at first teammates had been restricted to type to communicate, then voice was allowed as legal, as well as a coach standing by. This is one of those right steps ESWC has made. Other teams had their managers at their backs too, only I think ours was the best regarding game skills."
Now we see what DC contributed to your victory. Will you continue with his employment on more coming events?
-"I'm not sure as he has got his own full-time job. But if we are able to, we'd like him to stay with us."

-"You'd have to ask him. His name is Zhou Yang. Maybe it relates to his girlfriend?"
In DC's blog he said DTS had demanded that the referee ask him to leave. What happened?
-"It seemed that they did not like DC's presenting at our backs. But we did not break any rule there. The referee approved that each team could have one person at their teams' backs, so we had DC at ours. The referee was fair to everyone."
820 said he would retire after the tournament. Now we are eager to know if it still counts coz you have just won the ESWC champion.
-"I'm sure he still has the idea on his mind, but maybe it won't be that early. We would really like him to stay. Honestly, we can hardly find any replacement for his position in the team. I'm not saying his particular assisting role in the game but the general position in the team. The reason that our team has been a bug in LAN games is that we have many great players."

| Calling Ehome no-lifers and virgins and whatnot is pathetic. The amount of time an EU pro spends in inhouse leagues probably isn't much less than a Chinese pro spends training with his team. The difference is the former is time wasted and the latter is an effective way of improving teamplay and individual skills. Anyway, the only reason I'm not a pro footballer is because I have a life unlike fucking losers who train all day like Messi and Van Persie. *feelgood* |

| #53 honestly, why do you asians get so emotional over forums? dear god, someone insulted ehome, get the fucking pitchfork. you keep using the word idol, but i don't have dota "idols". i have players that i respect for their skill and ingame intelligence, and 90% of them are chinese. ehome and lgd.sgty are a cut above the rest of the world in terms of skill and ability, and that is a direct result of practicing against the top teams in the world on a daily basis. ehome get to play lgd.sgty regularly, you think DTS or LOST are going to trouble them? give me a break. also, you speak english well, which makes me think that you are well educated, however you need to learn to provide counter points. you cannot simply make up things we have said, then proceed to pick apart those statements. blink the tears out of your eyes and logically think about what you're writing, friend. maybe then we can have an actual discussion that isnt pure ad hominem and nationalistic pride. anyways, you should try smoking kush sometime breh, maybe get some cute chinese tail and calm down yedigg |

And my comparison to football was simply to show how unreasonable your first post sounded. If someone works harder and surpasses you in something you care about, shouldn't you applaud them rather than demean them? | Different people and cultures have varying thresholds on how much time they think is wise to invest in gaming. It's not necessarily an "excuse" if somone realizes they won't be able to train to the highest level of perfection, given their own practical circumstances. It may be a brute fact of life -- 'we can only spend so much time on this'. You can turn the basic axiom here around in different ways: "I want to be a pro player. But if I am not willing to put in heavy, regular training, that's not going to happen." That's not making an excuse but dealing with a reality: those who train like pros will be the best, and those who don't will not. On the other hand, it lacks respect to talk pejoratively about those who do find they have the right environment and practical situation to train to that level. |
| #71 messi, xavi, c.ronaldo are the best in the world because they have trained harder than anyone else, under the best conditions. there is no such thing as natural talent, "skill" is merely hard work. "that's hard work, baby, that's all it is". ehome was so much better than anyone else at the tournament because because ehome has had more quality practice, against nirvana.cn and ftd, and because 820 has thought about the game to the point that he is the most intelligent picker in the world. for a team like DTS to compete with EHOME, with weak european practice partners, they would need to play an astronomical amount to make up for the deficiency in lack of proper practice. also van persie is very good, but messi, at least at barca, is untouchable. the only players who come close, again in club form, are xavi and rooney pre-injury, at least imo :P |

Do you have the confidence to win the championship without him?" Erm. Maybe clean up some of the structuring of the phrases used as well. Sort of prefer it to be professional and stuff; big tournament after all. Unless the "match" refers only to the particular DTS games, I think it should be matches. I assume that DC was behind EHome for most of the games played in the ESWC event? Edit: I checked out the original source. And there's some discrepancies between the translation. The answer to this particular response is "We will probably still win." And not "Yes, we do." There's a rather subtle difference between this two, and I hope that this will clear things up. |

| Pretty nice discussion we got. To the "China has better environment for gaming" argument, I'd like to add that EHOME players sleep and play together (at least that's what is said here, I don't know the actual truth) , to simplify - they have the same schedule - they wake up, eat, play. The level of organization and seriousness involved is far greater in Chinese teams then in any other. Whilst, the EU players have troubles eg. one player wakes up at 10am, wants to play DotA and plays some shitty unimportant IH game, other player wakes up little later and wants to play DotA and starts IH game. Etcetc. So no place for clan practice. To be able to play and practice like EHOME (or any other Chinese team does) they need to have a lot more will (read: money) and a lot more organized way of training, playing DotA etc.' By this I do not defend EU teams failing quite badly at ESWC(and not only EU teams, but AEON and Nv.my too), on contrary I have been a fan of EHOME since long time ago and I feel pretty good that one of my favourite teams did win. |

| EU>ASIA debate is over! So EU fanboys, please, stop making excuses! A tournament held in Asia (SMM) = Asian Team Won! (FTD) A tournament held in EU (ESWC) = Still an Asian Team Won! (EHOME) After SMM, I remember some EU fanboy said that its obvious who will win the tournament because 1 EU team vs 20 Asian teams! | #81 It's important to read that, and Maelk didn't picked Lion/Dusa, so why are Chinnese lying or saying no sense things in the interview... In this post the differents cultures looks like we're speaking even different languages even we're talking all in english, for europe, the asians are no-life,virgins,nerds people and for asia the europe are stupid that only use the brain to put excuses.... and both are right but not with the corrects words... asian play so much time dota but training in a better way than europe, and europe play as much time as asia but not as team, they play 2,3 inhouse game and then scrim with stands, if not look at asia when they scrim they play 10,12 games in a row.... but BOTH PLAY ESWC TO WIN THE TOURNAMENT...... and it's obvious that the players of their owns teams said we'll win... because of that it's impossible to say that misery don't want to win... BTW stop the shit about EUROPE AND ASIA, because it's the worst way to talk about this, in this tournament EHOME was the machine... that only five guys or 6 with the coach(for me a nice idea, because he can think and look how the team is playing the game, things that ingame you couldn't see because you have to look at farm, thinks on awrnss, talk to the team,etc..it's an advantage for sure) , AEON were from and asia and nothing... I'm not the best analizer about the games, but EHOME teamplay on teamfights were incredible, they lost 4,5 teamfights in all the tournament, and 3 with teg(because teg surprised them), they know when to farm his carrys and how to don't feed when dusa/trax were farming... I think EHOME in this tournament showed THE ART OF TEAMFIGHTS, I remember the 4v5 teamfight against DTS, when their carry tped top to farm, the teamfight was forced NICELY by DTS, so EHOME was surprised with one carry out(with the meaning of a carry out for China = teamfight lose), and they win the tf 3x0 or 3x1, it's the same, The other tf I remember was in the first game against aeon, vengeful swap the carry, rhasta focused the other carry and the game was over... or sometimes that they were the 5 up the hill, with a possible push incoming and for reasons I don't know they backed, but it was for sure that they thought it wasn't the best way to take the teamfight, or they prefer to farm to finish items... and they didn't feed... that was nice for me... they prefer to roshan even with the game in his hands..... always not giving nothing to his oponnents... flawless.... that was the difference of all, and that is something that you can't train in two weeks... all europe teams spend the same time as China but not in the best way, like someone said... China has a proyect, and they train as a team, the same 5... kuroky in OK, baby on MYM, Twisted on LOST..., They played well, but that "stands" are not good for a team... because they are high-individual player, but as 5, there are teams that can performance better, like EHOME... nv.giga.int playing against ehome, the game ended at 25 min, his spirit was down when they couldn't stop the farm fest, the same with DTS in the final game; they look with her eyes how Dusa was farming, but nothing to do, because EHOME in a farm style of gaming, you can't stop them... It's the time of Europe/Asia all the world to counter this, and look how to play the midgame and lategame against this teams, and how to teamfight them... I only want that my comment contribute to this comunity and to help at this comunity to learn from previous errors... "We start living on 7th"(It's nice how they love DotA, the game) I love the game at the same way :$... | lgd.2009.sgty is studing Biomedical and Clinical Medicine in that Uni, and he will became a doctor after that. but he can still cope up with EHOME's standard. It's all about how far you can reach within a limited time, which is not proportional with how much time you spend playing after a certain level. |
