LoH enlightening us all
Posted by Vincent "em0_llama" Nunes 2 years ago
Rumoured to not usually consent to interviews, DTS player and Russian legend, LightOfHeaven, provided prodota.ru with an interview, which has been translated by the GosuCrew for your enjoyment.
General Questions
Despite having done an interview in China due to various contract agreements, we've been told that you don't do interviews often. Why is that?
-"An interview is an interaction with someone whose questions are based around a newswriter's standard, and I did not like that. This did not create a pleasant enviroment in which to communicate."
What is your opinion on other top players, such as Kuroky and Loda, doing a number of interviews and having blogs?
-"It seems to me as if this is their favoured method in which to communicate with the community. Perhaps they enjoy the attention and recognition they get from their fans' responses. From personal experience, most people in the world are like this."
Your popularity among the DotA fan base is quite extensive, with fans from Russia, Kazakhstan and China. What is your reaction to people asking for photos?
-"I'm not for it as it takes up my own time and I don't really benefit from it in materialistic terms."
How about autographs, do you reject those?
-"No. Sometimes, when you give your autograph, there is a funny tingling feeling inside that feels great."
DotA Questions
You've obviously had an extremely successful DotA career, winning ASUS several times. Is this what you have strived for, or is there some underlying cause behind your game play?-"I play DotA to improve the mental and physical capabilities of my body."
They are a great deal of strong teams in and around Russian and Ukraine, but it's never boasted the best team in the world. Do you this CIS would be able to form a super team?
-"No I do not think so, as Russian and Ukrainian players have many more interests that they end up following. As for the Slavic players, they need time to find money for food.
In Asia, Europe and America, there are teenagers who can play DotA 12 hours and absolutely nothing can stop them. However, teams such as NA'VI, who have been performing excelllently, always strengthen our hope."
Using Na'Vi as an example, if they do not secure any major sponsors, nor the sufficient support, is it unrealistic for them to reach and compete in the world's DotA stage?
“
People with that sort of money don't usually play DotA” Lets imagine that you have been given the opportunity via the means of a relaible sponsor to assemble your dream team. Who would you choose, what would you expect from your team and in general, what is needed to have a strong team?
-"If you remove the factor of having fun while playing, communicating with your team and also from players I know, it would be: Misery, Loda, PGG, Vigoss, Kuroky or Fear. However, in general, if you take five normal lads, who work well with each other, whilst communicating and playing like a well oiled machine, trust me, they can destroy the whole universe."
After being placed 4th in the ProDota Challenge, what is your opinion on the tournament?
-"The results were satisfactory when compared with our results from previous online tournaments. I disagreed with the fact that players were allowed to play in multiple teams. But in general, I liked the organization of the championship and the flexibility and understanding the admins possessed when they were dealing with a violation."
-"Our biggest rivals would have to be Uncle Vova(DyaDya Vova) and company."
You have said that the strongest team in the world is in Asia. Why do you think so, and who do you think will be the favourites in the upcoming ESWC?
-"I think so because if you look at the 3 most prestigious tournaments which took place recently, ESWC, Alienware and SMM - it all becomes very clear. Anyways, I was able to observe and play with the Asians and Europeans, and lets just say from a spectators perspective, the Asian "enjoy" playing more. As for favourites, I'm not quite sure as I have limited knowledge regarding the Asian scene, but CH has really impressed me."
To end on a casual note, who are your favourite heroes?
-"Storm Spirit, Invoker and Goblin Techies"
Perhaps his recent form has inspired the Russian player to provide the community with an interview, one which the fans are surely greatful for. Regardless, with ESWC coming up, the DTS player has a long and daunting road ahead of him.

nice interview
#44: +1. That was exactly what I though when I read his answer.
# 38 Please say what you have to say , this was the 2nd best tournament of 2009 , if you are saying that not the best chinese teams were participating its because they were eliminated before the tournaments begin and Russian players proved that they can beat any team in the world LOH the legend
Light of Heaven is such a good guy..His principals are coinciding to mine, that's what I like.
Awesome interview...thnks vincent 4r tis info on LOH.....we all love u LOH....go w in da ESWC tis tym
hes intp
Thx for the work gg.crew but srsly wtf: They are a great deal of strong teams in and around Russian and Ukraine, but it's never boasted the best team in the world. Do you this CIS would be able to form a super team?
lol what a hater. Awesome player in awesome team tho
love him since i saw him winning a game with Beastmaster ALONE! LoH <3
#50 ROFL
Show some respect its LOH a VP PLAYER ...old skool, nice interview ty GG
I like this guy. Quite taciturn, but surely a force to reckon with. Keep it up!
The guy skips questions he doesn't want to answer and I like him more for answering the questions that way. Your popularity among the DotA fan base is quite extensive, with fans from Russia, Kazakhstan and China. What is your reaction to people asking for photos? -"I'm not for it as it takes up my own time and I don't really benefit from it in materialistic terms." Just shows how serious he really is.
this guy is hardcore
good interview
horrible interview, his answers are so bleak, and thes clearly a translation error. i liked the other interview much more (in china) even though it was short
i like that guy
"improve physical capabilities" probably refers to improving his reaction time, hand-eye-coordination etc.
Nice humble guy but people here calls him weird....O_O
Well he seems like a special person which is good I think, it´s always fun to read something other then the standard answers to questions.
haha epic
Legend.
at first when I was I noob I thought LoH was bad and all :D But since I've watched his performances I could say he is my favorite! He is no MuShi but his manners , knowledge and skill in DotA balances out so it makes him kind of the most valorous player of this game:D Respect for LightOfHeaven
-"I play DotA to improve the mental and physical capabilities of my body." Please teach me... lol
how could dota improve the body's capabilities?
#26 but if u really have to mension that, then don't forget CH won ROX in bo1, so that was a draw. and Rox lost to EHOME in 25 min. lost to XFY. Alhrough ROX in Lan game are a monster, destroying enothome 3 games in a row. (result shows these Russians cannot win enothome online...before or after AWL...) imo AWL is not a good tour anyway, in AWL, 8 teams attended, people all know there are two teams whoes only purpose was to make up the number and feed other teams...so basicly only 6 team that were "competing"... the top 4 seem 1 level above the other 2-->and G5 was Yaphets' "1-man-team"... But between the 4 teams: CH XFY EH ROX, u really cant sort out who is much better than the others at that time. and Chinese teams are back from a major event, SMM, they r so tired that strongest Chinese team at that time did not attend despite they r invited. And lots of eu teams did not attend too.
This guy is not alone in his head. But I like him, his reasons for not doing a lot of interviews are interesting.
to be honest playing a lot of dota for a long time ruins your vision, contributes to lack of memory, contributes to social disorders since you mostly communicate electronically, to name a few. I can name 1 million better activities that "improve the mental and physical capabilities of my body" than dota. lol
and i'm surprised that you're still here.
uncle vova
Interview must be renamed to "lost in translation" Btw i cant stop imagining playing dota and practicing my yoga at the same time
^ heh
This guy can smash any eu/us and most asian teams on lan. Its so strange he cant do that online.
rolf vigoss now playing carry
The only reason LoH likes techies is because he saw me play with him back in the days. :D
kickasser LOH regards
-"I play DotA to improve the mental and physical capabilities of my body." hahahha, this one made my day Cya guyz, im gonna "work out" for an hour or two
Indigo person, is Indigo -0.0-
LoH! Very strong player, love your replays! Thanks for the interview!
People who think that its translated bad and made him look weird, i can asure you that in russian its even more wiered and emo. how can you improve your body with dota? make your fingers stronger? mental ok, but body huh ..
I know, it would be: Misery, Loda, PGG, Vigoss, Kuroky or Fear. dream team? or in a basketball, first five? hehe |
LoH is a nice guy for liking Invoker before he got more buffs!
He is just the best ! (:
one of the best player that could reach VGoD level
Epic. <3
I love the structured way he answered questions- like the conditinos he placed on his "dream team" it's like he really thinks carefully before answering anyhting. I'd be a regular reader of his blog for sure! :D
Translation failure -.- He wants to improve mental and physical processes in his body. And u may take this answer as a joke, dont be so serious about it if u dont see thousand of "rofl" smileys afer. Most of LoH's answers in russian are very rational and adequate and not so weird as it looks in english.
#83 Because most teams have a maphacker on it
what about russian players drinking and playing? :>
fat holy is fat.
