LoH enlightening us all
Posted by Vincent "em0_llama" Nunes 1 year ago
Rumoured to not usually consent to interviews, DTS player and Russian legend, LightOfHeaven, provided prodota.ru with an interview, which has been translated by the GosuCrew for your enjoyment.
General Questions
Despite having done an interview in China due to various contract agreements, we've been told that you don't do interviews often. Why is that?
-"An interview is an interaction with someone whose questions are based around a newswriter's standard, and I did not like that. This did not create a pleasant enviroment in which to communicate."
What is your opinion on other top players, such as Kuroky and Loda, doing a number of interviews and having blogs?
-"It seems to me as if this is their favoured method in which to communicate with the community. Perhaps they enjoy the attention and recognition they get from their fans' responses. From personal experience, most people in the world are like this."
Your popularity among the DotA fan base is quite extensive, with fans from Russia, Kazakhstan and China. What is your reaction to people asking for photos?
-"I'm not for it as it takes up my own time and I don't really benefit from it in materialistic terms."
How about autographs, do you reject those?
-"No. Sometimes, when you give your autograph, there is a funny tingling feeling inside that feels great."
DotA Questions
You've obviously had an extremely successful DotA career, winning ASUS several times. Is this what you have strived for, or is there some underlying cause behind your game play?-"I play DotA to improve the mental and physical capabilities of my body."
They are a great deal of strong teams in and around Russian and Ukraine, but it's never boasted the best team in the world. Do you this CIS would be able to form a super team?
-"No I do not think so, as Russian and Ukrainian players have many more interests that they end up following. As for the Slavic players, they need time to find money for food.
In Asia, Europe and America, there are teenagers who can play DotA 12 hours and absolutely nothing can stop them. However, teams such as NA'VI, who have been performing excelllently, always strengthen our hope."
Using Na'Vi as an example, if they do not secure any major sponsors, nor the sufficient support, is it unrealistic for them to reach and compete in the world's DotA stage?
“
People with that sort of money don't usually play DotA” Lets imagine that you have been given the opportunity via the means of a relaible sponsor to assemble your dream team. Who would you choose, what would you expect from your team and in general, what is needed to have a strong team?
-"If you remove the factor of having fun while playing, communicating with your team and also from players I know, it would be: Misery, Loda, PGG, Vigoss, Kuroky or Fear. However, in general, if you take five normal lads, who work well with each other, whilst communicating and playing like a well oiled machine, trust me, they can destroy the whole universe."
After being placed 4th in the ProDota Challenge, what is your opinion on the tournament?
-"The results were satisfactory when compared with our results from previous online tournaments. I disagreed with the fact that players were allowed to play in multiple teams. But in general, I liked the organization of the championship and the flexibility and understanding the admins possessed when they were dealing with a violation."
-"Our biggest rivals would have to be Uncle Vova(DyaDya Vova) and company."
You have said that the strongest team in the world is in Asia. Why do you think so, and who do you think will be the favourites in the upcoming ESWC?
-"I think so because if you look at the 3 most prestigious tournaments which took place recently, ESWC, Alienware and SMM - it all becomes very clear. Anyways, I was able to observe and play with the Asians and Europeans, and lets just say from a spectators perspective, the Asian "enjoy" playing more. As for favourites, I'm not quite sure as I have limited knowledge regarding the Asian scene, but CH has really impressed me."
To end on a casual note, who are your favourite heroes?
-"Storm Spirit, Invoker and Goblin Techies"
Perhaps his recent form has inspired the Russian player to provide the community with an interview, one which the fans are surely greatful for. Regardless, with ESWC coming up, the DTS player has a long and daunting road ahead of him.

Finally a good translation of this interview :)
sexy glasses, i would say BEASTY glasses
especially the first few answers make him kinda sound like a weirdo i thought.
good job!
#3 Haha ya, I kind of also got that same impression
-"I play DotA to improve the mental and physical capabilities of my body." ok then
To end on a casual note, who are your favourite heroes? -"Storm Spirit, Invoker and Goblin Techies" then why DTS dont play storm instead of Necro ? |
The BEST there is!!!!!
a bit emo-like answers?
The wording of his answers is sometimes a little bizarre, but I'm thinking that must just be something getting lost in a too-literal translation.
looks weird, answers weird but plays good lol!
Fucking awesome to see LoH interview!
#10 its not translated to English, its translated to LoH English.
There should be a question asking why he stopped playing carry heroes. ):
nice interview btw #9 see that Posted by: Vincent "em0_llama" Nunes
He has learned his expresion by "The Architect"... U know the guy in The Matrix.
#14 He stopped? Since when?
#15 I'm not emo though? ^^ hehe
I really can relate with his IRL issues. Players here in PH got sponsored not because their the best of the best in PH, but because they have TIME and MONEY to play anytime they want, join LAN tourney without minding travel expenses, and alot more.
As for the Slavic players, they need time to find money for food. So true. /off to look for food |
-"I play DotA to improve the mental and physical capabilities of my body." What? :S
Best player !
#20 Hahahaha! #21 My bod has great mental powers. Nothing odd about it, I say.
i like this guy : )
@16 thought the same thing when i read it :D This guy is a machine..
Don't forgot that he was in 2nd team on ADL and he defeated CH:D
My favorite player.
indigo!
My favorite player EVER!
# 20 LOL hahahaha
VIGOSSSSSSSS! BTW fail translation make him look abit emo and unmannered :/
LOH is quite a rational and mature guy, like him
OMG LoH is soooooooo serious. I think the man who interviewed him did not have the chance to smile.
Some interesting answers, but how can playing DotA enhance your bodys mental and physical capabilities. It can contribute to something mental i guess, but if that's the reason, there really is better things to do.
Those are definetely not his exact words, another reason to dislike giving interviews: newswriters often change what you answered.
he looks like a pretty straight-forward and serious person i doubt how he reached such a high status when most dota stars are opposite to this
i think theres some misinformation in this. fnatic and co. werent in china by sponsors money as far as i know. perhaps you remember they left the organization after their trip cuz they "werent getting enough support" they paid their own trip from their previous winnings i think (not sure about that)
#26 ADL was a shit tournament, that didn't have most top teams and only happened because it was broadcasted on tv. Don't even get me started.
legend.
EMO jhajhahjajha WTF
LighT is DotA's philosopher.
I think that some answers were fucked by the translator, but the interview was good, for me, the best player of all times.
I like LoH more now. Sensible guy.
dota for mental fitness... ok i can # that one. dota for physical fitness? not rly, if you play dota all day long you get the ironman or what? pretty bullshit IMO ;)
#44 he Know a SECRET & btw His dreamteam Misery&Vigoss in same team HAHAH i wanna see THAT
rofl LOH was allways soooo selforiented :D thinking he is center of freakign universe. but in the good way !
Before reading this , LoH = good farmer & overall player. After reading '-"I play DotA to improve the mental and physical capabilities of my body."
lost ftw)
Clearly language problem. Vp was top team ever from russia did he forgot!.
There's special protein shakes designed to effect finger muscle growth. You should definitely drink one after each 200-300 apm session. In time, your fingers will be as big as the Terminator's thighs. Now that's what I call physical improvement.
