Smart is the new sexy - video by HU57L3R and NOT_DJRASTA_BG

We all know that, once in a while, a true gem emerges from the pile of overly flashy or just uninteresting gaming videos. What makes this video such a gem? Let's take a look!First of all, the main characteristic of videos - visuals. In the age where everyone and his kid can add some blur onto a screen and make it shake, pretty effects are a must, otherwise, you're just watching replays. Now, this is not necessarily a good thing, since there's a thin line between a nicely-done video and an epileptic's death sentence. Smart is the new sexy is exactly on that line - the effects are good-looking, but still allow maximum visibility; tactical zoom here and there allows you to take a good look at what's happening, along with non-invasive displays of heroes' health, items and other similar information. Admittedly, there isn't as much flash as in other videos of the same quality, but Smart is the new sexy's name is the answer to that. It's about smart actions and fantastic maneuvers, not ground-breaking special effects.
We can argue about our own tastes in music, but tastes have little to do with how the audio part was done. Most of the tracks fit the crazy atmosphere well, and it even gets awesomely synchronized here and there. You may not like it, but it fits well nonetheless.
The content makes or breaks a DotA video. And it's probably the best part! Now, some of it can be dismissed as pure luck - one-too-many multicast in a row, blink shenanigans and impossible Appariton's ult hits, but the video doesn't lack skill in the least! Merlini-style Zeus fights, getting away with one-digit health and managing to beat the opponent, Pugna ward-blocking are some of the things you can expect to see in this video. Most of the content is from DotA-pride 1, so it's no pubstomp!
All in all, the crew over here really liked Smart is the new sexy, so we decided to review it, and remind those who haven't seen it what they're missing.

| The Mortred scene was very funny and well-edited (detail: the missed creep produces a different sound). Other than that, I didn't get what's so great about getting multicasts, but hey. |

| seen better moves, but the soundtrack was nice, and fits the scenes pretty well, and ofcourse its hard to make a vid with all the OMFG-moves , like in void5's "Dota.Z" - when you produce it with highskilled players that is harder to juke on - i guess?. |

| Actually that was pretty bad. The one who created this movie obviously discovered sony vegas only yesterday. I bet it took 4 times more time just to watch all the replays than making the movie itself. What I found really uninteresting about this movie: -Really bad quality of intro. The quality of the movie itself was pretty decent, not the best out there, but still. -The fonts used in the movie are just horrible. There are millions of fonts out there and you picked the ugliest. -Cheap effect. I mean if you don't posses good skills at editing just don't add any. A good movie doesn't consist of constant shaking screen with blinking white light(this will only cause Photosensitive epilepsy) -Music just doesn't fit. Of course we can debate about our music tastes, but it's not about music tastes, it's about fitting the movie. -Why didn't you turn on health bars? That was really weird. And what's with that comic sans font? If you like it, fine, but change it during movie recording, or better turn chat off. -"Smart Is The New Sexy" oh come on, don't drag "The Big Bang Theory" into this. -Frags. To be honest most of them I found "luck based". I admit that luck is a part of skill, but still. I found 50% luck based; 30% skill based; 20% skill + luck. This is my opinion. You can notice it, you can ignore it. It's up to you. |

| I won't be telling the mistakes of the video making process. It's already pretty damn good compared to 99% of the videos out there, so why be so negative about it? :) I myself found it really amusing, that pgg "one more multicast" situation is hilarious, and that's not the only funny moment in the whole video. |

| #17 It doesn't take much time to learn this kind of effect, in fact, any noob that will download vegas right now, by the end of the day will be able to make such movie. The effect are poor and that's a fact. Even though you claim that some people found them good, it's just that these people won't write truth. Some known guy made a shitty movie and all the fan boy goes "omg the best movie evaaa" etc. I can make the same movie over 30 minutes, and believe me, no one will say that it's good. I didn't say that frags were bad, they are fine. |
| #20 "Anyone can do it" was never a good arguments. To be honest, few effects are quite refreshing, we are starting to hate all the bling bling people put into videos, so this was quite a nice change. "Poor effects" aren't a fact, they are quite well timed, and they look good. How much effort was put into them is quite unimportant to the audience. If you can make a same/better movie in 30 minutes, and put interesting content in it, I will be the first one to say it's good. Names mean little. |

Or in a movie battle between hexor and some random guy, even if hexor will lose in quality, editing most of the people will vote for him, why, well because that's hexxxxxooooorrrrr!!1111 |
| Well yeah, you're a bit right, I was mostly thinking myself when I mentioned the name thing. I stand corrected. But still, have you heard about Pizzaslice? His videos are awesomely popular, and his practically anonymous otherwise. The "names' have an advantage, but that doesn't stop less famous people from making it through. |

| As a professional i would like to tell every1 that if you are working with editing packages like (Premier, FCP) You have options to see frames and seconds if you are beginner and try to edit and put effects, I suggest you to put timeline on seconds because if you put in frames you cant judge time from frames and as tou dont know you end up with fast action which normal person cannot recollect. Good work BTW. Keep it up and feel free to contact if you have any doubts or need any suggestion or help. BTW like the Action!!! any action in dota is Good :D :D |

I know you`ll find the difference that no matter how boring the movie is (for you) you`re still not in it. GL in dp2 cuz that`s your best. | The video was ok, not the worst, not the best. 3/5 The actual game play wasn't that impressive. I mean, the scenes were ok, but imo not the best video-material (not like those vacuum/RoS -> rampage scenes) But it can be a bit hard finding *OMG* epic moments, played only by yourself. Editing/effects isn't that important, but it surely helps. In this video the most irritating thing was not showing healthbars all the time (only turning them on, on one hero, when he had -:- 20%hp). You get a better overview if you see all healthbars, so you can relate to why the players make different decisions. |

| I like the video because its vs good players not like 95% of the other moves where its so fucking easy to "juke" some noobs to tell u the truth i dont think the movie is that good but i rly think that alot of ppl LOVE IT . I told hustler that the effects arent that much"luxurious" and about the scenes it was a realy shord period for me to gather them like 2-3 weeks or 30-40 reps . In my next video ill spend more time to gather epic moments I already got like 3-4 good ones and expect better effects . hustler u better start practicing -_- |
