Mooseman: "Running a league is a hand full"

With the increased activity over the past two months, the public relations officer behind DotA-League, Moritz "Mooseman" Zimmermann has had his hands full.

Since the start of 2010 the professional DotA scene has just about taken off, with new leagues popping up left right and centre; new teams emerging and increased sponsor activity. Coupled with some nasty hacker attacks on the DotA-League website, many would wonder how DotA-League is being held together. The crew over at Fragster.de had a chance to find out from DL's public relations admin, Moosman.

DotA-League.com was the target of hacker attacks for several days and therefore the site is very limited available or very slow. What is being done about it and when will the system be able to run smoothly again?

-" We are constantly working to improve our infrastructure, so that such hacking can not take away the fun of a large number of players the fun at Dota-League. We are planning on using a new and more powerful server in the new future to better the experience of the players.. Our technical administrators are working hard on it and everything is under control."

How satisfied are you with the developement of your elite league F4F? Is the new system better than the old one? Which mistakes or shortcomings are still enhanced?

-"I would say that it is running smoothly. F4F is still getting plenty attention – more than any other tournament. We have the entire top 10 in Europe and, of course, Blight and Mcity. I am convinced that the system is better than the old one. 32 teams were just too many on long terms. But what does not work at all are the match deadlines: The teams didn't really try to comply them and I believe, that at times, we haven't been strict enough with them.

Now two tournaments are remaining and the battle for the six relegation places is very exciting. The much awaited battle between MYM and Blight hasn't happened yet, so fans still having something huge to look forward to. The big showdown is not far away!"

Isn't there a risk that the Dota-League system will not be needed anymore when the stand-alone DotA is released?

-"It seems that IceFrog and Valve are working hard towards DotA as a recognised Esport while having a massive online community – I'm pretty sure that after the release of a new DotA version there will be a need for more experts; both online and offline. The philosophy of DL might have to change for a new game, but we have a good future investment.

We won't get superfluous in any case. The question is rather if Valve will ever agree to develop its own league or whether take care about existing ones."
