GosuCup round one wrap-up

Posted by Terrence "MrBlue" Wong 2 years ago
Round one of GosuCup coming to a close as Europe defeats the best of Asia.

Standings:
Round one fixtures
TeamResultTeam
Singapore XtC < Europe Tribal.int
Germany dmZ < Australia MCiTY
Other Blight.int > Europe TheShit!
Ukraine DTS > Germany LaginHed
Romania TeG > Sweden DIPS
Malaysia Kingsurf < Russia AEON.ru
Slovakia SGC > Singapore PMS|Asterisk*
Denmark MYM > United States Pandemic

All eight games of GosuCup round one has been played with exception of the game between SGC and PMS|Asterisk*. Due to some technical difficulties, one of PMS's player was unable to join the game being hosted. After trying for over an hour, both teams decided to postpone the match to a later time. But due to PMS heading to ShangHai for the IronLady DotA tournament, they were given a default loss.

Top teams such as DTS, TeG and MYM took down their opponent easily and will now proceed to round two.. The Asian teams, KingSurf and XtC were unable to impress, being defeated by AEON.ru and Tribal.Int respectively. While the game between Blight.Int vs TheShit! should be watched as Puppey showed how deadly a well-played Visage can really be.

Round two of GosuCup will be starting very soon. GosuBets will be provided, but in the meantime watch some of the great matches that were played during round one Here.

Round one of GosuCup coming to a close as Europe defeats the best of Asia.

just look back at SMM and ESWC =)) =)) =)), Europeans just won some matches where Asian teams had to suffer the terrible LAG and they talked trash already. Very nice, really

As far as I've understood they use US hostbot?.. Then how can the pings be unfair, US would pretty much seem to be the perfect place to host from, if you look for something between europe and asia?

Is it just because asians have sucky internet connections, or why do they lag more than for example the russians?

Someone please explain!

ASIAN TEAMS JOINED THIS KNOWING THEY WILL LAG
(as stated in the article about Gosu Cup)

So fan boys stop flaming.

what a pathetic match....it might be lagg i swear...!

US-host bot is probably the best neutral host, i think.

Then, by accepting the invitation to participate in GosuCup #2, we jolly well should know that there will be lag; meaning to say that we agree to play in this tournament even if there is lag.

If this EU vs Asia flame topic still continues, it wont be the best interest for DotA. With this EU vs Asia flame for instance, how are we to show the world that DotA is a serious eSport? Then this might give WCG/ESWC another reason for not choosing DotA into their tournaments. Then who are we to blame - "we were our own enemies".

Bad choice of words by the writer, but the wording here is infinitely better than the one on mymym. The one who wrote that article should be under the definition of ignorant.

IMO the title could use a makeover if only to avoid trolling comments because it certainly wasn't the best of Asia.

Hope aeon wins because Blight needs a team in Europe that can seriously challenge their domination. It makes the dota scene in eu seem so weak if one team can seem to pick any 5 heroes while blindfolded and still stomp the competition.

Best of luck aeon and shame on gg crew for letting this poorly worded article out.

it may have been a bad choice of the words by the writer, but its a fact... if asians teams had defeated the best europeans teams at the first round, he would probably communicate this fact... he seems neutral, he's just standing out a fact we can see through the results... and probably would turn into a flamewar through the comments if he didnt stand out on the headline

don't get the merit out of the winners, although those asian teams from singapore and malaysia probably played with lag and delay and they were betters on SMM and ESWC doesnt mean they will always win

Nah... Euro team never even make it far on LAN at SMM.. I suppose they can do the "Euros beat Asian" on the Online where idiots also know lag does play the parts..

Just let them enjoy it..

Is so obvious they trying to startup a trolling on the EURO vs ASIA stuff.. just let them enjoy it.. It won't be enjoying if Asian won all the stuff rite..???

#64: Yeah, he just says everything as it happens. But in an over-sensitive topic, a competent writer needs to know how to choose his words (especially the headline) carefully. For example, why exactly does he include the word "best" in there? What is he trying to say? KS and XtC aren't even best teams in Asia, we know right now Chinese are the best.

That's what I was trying to point out. I guess it got lost in translation.

If gg is trying to clean this site up. They should be more critical with what they themselves put up on the site.

almost all of the posters here took the news post too much seriously and just made the almost calmed down Asia vs Euro issue bullshit alive again.. what a shame.. the news writer may have been a bit wrong in choice of words. but hey, even news writers make mistakes you know.

#74 iamj4de 2 years ago
#73: Mistake => criticism. Even whether the writer of this news indeed innocently made the mistake or not is questionable, but I will give him the benefit of doubt.

Imagine Chicago Tribune wrote an article with the title: "The robber has been caught, an african-american, as usual". Yes, everything written there is true, even the bold part. But what do you expect the reaction would be? When dealing with sensitive topic, you can't write irresponsibly as in other articles.

All of this coming from a long time SK-Fnatic-Ehothome fan.

pathetic story...
dont even dare and say Europe defeats the best of Asia.
when asians are playing with 300~400 ping have some self respect
#76 pongpagong 2 years ago
EU beat the best of asia

didn't even put the words "managed to" before "defeats the best of asia". careless careless mistake for a writer.

again... careless careless mistake by the writer... check your words and check your audience when you write cause this will obviously make things worst.

One thing im sure about is:
There are very few malAySIANS that are good editors when it comes to dota news and articles

With me and a tiny few others being an exception during my time.

ReiN? Mr Blue?
Need more learning ,experience and analytical skills

Disappointing to see an article ridden with inaccuracies and inciting hatred. When the inevitable 2nd World War between Asia/Eu Dota happens ill look back at articles like this one for feeding fuel to the hungry flames. Even though its 3 days old its not too late to edit this blunder and apologize.
