European DotA Championship: Catch-up week updates

With the Catch-up week ending on 17th Jan, the European DotA Championship is coming to its final phases. Gosugamers present you the updates of the EDC standings after the exciting matches that made up the Catch-up week.

Due to some unavoidable circumstances, diamondZ and XX5 have forfeited this tournament and all of their upcoming matches will result in a default win for their opponents. dmZ had decided to forfeit the league after having time problems as they are participating in 2 other tournaments and 3 of their players have exams going on till the next month. Having lost all their matches, it was tough for them to qualify among the top 4 in any case. These teams are not going to be invited to the next season of the Professional League and will be banned from participating in the Amateur Tournament too. They will be able to participate again in the third season.


From the scoreboard given above, it is clear that TeG are in a roll at the moment with no losses yet in the tournament. They are surely in rocking form with their star studded lineup with the likes of ly0n, freezer and s0ny.

Among the top four teams, all except TeG are clustered together at quite a significant point gap from the leaders. We have Aeon.ru with 12 points and MYM and DIPS at 11 points each.

It is really a close fight for these three spots with a single result having the capability of changing the rankings. SGC has had a very good last week with wins over MYM, TheShit! and Tribal Gaming.int. They pose a serious threat to the other teams in the race for the top 4. Teams Tribal Gaming.int, TheShit! and DTS Chatrix have to win their remaining games to have a chance for a top 4 finish. Summarizing the standings at present, the coming weeks of EDC are sure to offer some nail biting action.
