First of all,
Iran is known mainly because of KuroKy. He is actually considered a player from 
Germany, but his nationality is Iranian. His ability on playing DotA is unique and shows us that Iran has its value. Although, he is not the only one good at DotA out there.The game is very popular in Iran, and it helps to find good players and teams, like Reborn. We will talk about Reborn later, now what matters is their way of playing DotA.
Their playstyle is undefined, it's more like European but sometimes, like Asian, altough some teams always comes with surprises, playing a completely different DotA.
The Iranian internet is not one of the best in the world and, because of that, they focus on LAN events (and maybe that's why the world don't know many teams from there, the best DotA events are on-line and they can't attend them very well). These LAN events includes ESWC, LGMCG and others. LGMCG is sponsored by LG and some events has the government sponsorship, like Iranians Olympics. Only a few events, like iPlay, are on-line and held by private companies.
I had the chance to talk with
ESRB-18, a very known player there. He is a player from Reborn, which recently won ESWC 2009 and is always present on all national LAN's finals.Their last achievements:
ESRB-18: We, Reborn, managed to win the ESWC 2009, and participated on ESWC masters of paris. After that event we continue to dominate the scene, being in the final of all national LAN events we participated.Their future steps:
ESRB-18: We signed up for DotA League, and we plan to sign up for every LAN tournament we can... Maybe a national qualifier for Vietnam Asian Indoor Games and DreamHack.His team:
