SC2 view from the outside
Created 25th February 2010 16:01 (Updated: 25th February 2010 16:42)

Disclaimer : First of all, i want to point out that im a huge Blizzard fan and i do not, i repeat, do not encourage the use of unlegitimate copyrighted materials such as their latest title, Starcraft II : Wings of Liberty.
I for one, intend to get my own retail copy of the game when it gets released, like i did with all the previous Blizzard titles.

In this blog entry, i would like to talk about things you can notice without actually playing sc2.
Being a big fan of the game and unfortunately one of the unlucky people who didn't get a beta key, to my shame, i got the cracked version of the game.
The people trying to crack SC2B, only managed their goal partially. At the moment, you can only view replays (acces full game menus, but you cant play what so ever), which, eventhough it made me cry of jealousy,i enjoyed watching replays a lot (for pretty obvious reasons).
The set of replays that came with the crack, were very low skilled, but the nice part of them was that, in most games, they made use of all the units of their races, and the replay watcher could see them in action and make a pretty good idea of what their capable of.
This being said, i want to point out some personal notes i could make after watching around 50-60 replays or so (yes, im a big fan allready).

Zerg : Highly overpowered at the moment, not necessarily becouse of the roach. The power to tech up very fast and, like Reiko said, to change tactical orientation in a blink of an eye, makes it close to autowin, specially in the hands of someone with good micro/macro skills.
Eventhough they literally killed the old school lurker from SCBW, Blizzard sure took care of replacing it. With so many options to chose from, even a mid skilled zerg player would be a real challenge to overcome.
The zerg is probably so special,at least if you ask me, becouse it describes a fast paced play style and considering the game is faster than SCBW, now its simply, wicked sick. :D
The most amazing thing i noticed at this race is its power to surprise. With so many options to chose from, the oponents try to balance their land-air techs in order to prepare for different types of strats.

Protoss : In SC2B, the protoss doesnt show than many changes (compared to SCBW) as i expected. It got a couple of new tricks up the sleave but nothing to fancy.
The new psionic storm its outrageously hard to land, considering the little cast delay i was told it has.
The unit warping thing, near pylons and stuff, is a nice touch. It can give you a lot of ideas that might get you the win.

Terran : Probably the weakest race in this beta version.Eventhough the terran has some new units and stuff, it cant do much against the protoss and zerg, the way it is at the moment.
For instance, if the game goes into late game, the terran is more likely to lose. In the early game, if rushed fast enough, has a good chance of losing.
If you ask me, the current power ranking would be Zerg > Protoss > Terran and Blizzard has to do a lot of work to get Zerg = Protoss = Terran.
Anyway, this written here, is just the oppinion of a player outside the game. Those who actually played the beta, might not agree with me.
If you guys really dont agree with me, please comment and correct me where i was wrong.

The teambreaker...
Created 24th February 2010 13:20 (Updated: 24th February 2010 13:22)

Recently today, it was made official that Azen from the russian powerhouse , The Retry is leaving the team due to a difference in oppinion between him and his team mates regarding the way official games must be taken care of.
After last night's 'fiasco' againt TheShit, Azen decided to leave the team.
He stated that himself and Santa were the only team members able to play in proper conditions, since the rest of the team mates were drunk, specially Pgg who was, and i quote "so drunk that he couldn't even stand on his legs".
He also stated that he wont play ever again in this team format and, expressed a huge dissapointment in russian dota.
The uprising question is if Santa will also leave the team too.
Only time can really tell.
Its well known that 'booze' never brings anything good and sooner or later, it ruins something good in people.
In this case, TheRetry lost one of "Mother Russia's" best dota players becouse of the lack of common sense of responsability that some players show from time to time.
Here's what Azen had to say :

Nikolai 'Azen' Belyakov:

"I do not know what is so special in this game when the only two players that are not drunk is santa and me. pgg was so drunk that he couldn't even stand on his legs that we had to swap him for some random guy in the club, blow and vein were also drunk but were able to play, russian dota is full with junkies and hardcore alcoholics. That was the last game I played for this team."

The Makers won EMS V !
Created 23rd February 2010 09:03 (Updated: 23rd February 2010 10:20)

After quite some time of strong competition and struggle to be the best, all the teams take a little breath as the EMS V comes to an end.
In the final stage, it featured two of the best teams out there, MeetYourMakers and Blight Gaming LCC( SWM).
In this match, the 'makers' were victorious with a 2-0 score over SWM and that concluded this season's EMS.
After the match, in the cooldown period, there were noted a couple of statements from the players on both sides as well as MYM's Manager, Alexandru 'Optixy' Catana who expresses his confidence in the current team and its future. He also promises a big surprise to all MYM fans out there.

Statement from Meet Your Makers:MaNia-

Im hoping to put on a good show in todays match vs SWM. I feel really confident in our new additions to the team, so eventhough we are a somewhat new team, I think we can come out victorious. SWM have some really skilled players, so im sure its not gonna be easy to defeat them.

Statement from Blight Gaming LLC(SWM):Korok

SWM has been looking forward to this match. Ever since our groupstage game vs MYM, we have been trying our best to improve and win. With roster changes on both teams, this game will definitely be an interesting one.

Statement from Meet Your Makers:OpTIXy

[Romanian - English Translation]After a period of time during which the team was through very difficult moments...the sudden departure of Kuroky and after a while, the departure of two important members (Angel and Miggel), MYM has once again proven itself to be the best european DotA brand out there, by winning EMS V.
Stay tooned to MYM, becouse we are preparing a big surprise.

The prize pool of 1000€ is shared as follows :

- 500€ - Meet Your Makers
- 300€ - Blight Gaming LLC(SWM)
- 200€ - Planet-X

Who really is 'THE Shit'?
Created 22nd February 2010 16:46 (Updated: 22nd February 2010 16:54)

Hello everyone. This weekend i must say, the cloud of fame has ascended over the well known dota team, The Shit, as they state their own oppinions about recent events in the scene, dota taken generally, upcoming events and of course, the upcoming match againts the russian powerhouse, The Retry.
Well known for his recent wave of interviews, EDC's Founder, Beast_Pete took the time to have a little chat,so to speak, with The Shit's team members, to find out some back stage information about them.
Eventhough the questions were,at the origin, pretty much the same set of questions used in dota interviews, both Beast_Pete and TS members, made it more interesting and fun to read, by adding a little humour to it.
As a short review of this interview, i want to note some personal observations, based on the information i got from reading it.

1. When asked about their own oppinion about the current asian dota scene, they showed interest in potential games against asian teams.TS players seem to admire a lot the asian aggressive play style and its power to win games, eventhough it seems really borring to play.

2. As we all probably know allready, the current season of the EDC is down to 4 teams (The Shit, TEG, The Retry and MYM), in the semi-finals.
Beast_Pete took the liberty of asking TS players, which team they think is going to make it to the finals between TEG and MYM.
To me, their answer was pretty surprising, considering MYM is trying to catch up on practice sessions and get a more solid game play with the new additions to their roster, while TEG had a very strong game in the last few couple of weeks, probably the surprise team of the year for their close to perfect matches in this year's EDC. They actually said they expect MYM to make it to the grand final,by winning over TEG.
Well, everything in gaming is like a match of poker, sometimes you win, other times you lose...There's always place for surprises.
After all, future comments on the outcome of this year's EDC are quite pointless at this moment and, in the end, all that makes a difference is the players will to win, their hunger to be the best and like Santa said, the number of big mistakes the players make, probably due to stress or momentary intuition.
3. What i liked most about the interview, was that all the TS players were relaxed and answered honestly to all the questions, eventhough their answers weren't what some people expected to hear.

This here is the main stuff and prolly the most relevant information i could get from the interview.
The other parts of the interview were pretty funny to read but that's about it.
To conclude this blog, i wish all the best to The Shit in the upcoming events they wish to attend.
